Joaquin Phoenix Is Upset With Eva Mendes
It’s so interesting to see the off-screen interaction between two actors that have worked together. While they had some pretty intense love-scene-moments in “We Own The Night,” Joaquin Phoenix and Eva Mendes aren’t showing much love in real life.
It all started at the Cannes Film Festival. The “Hitch” actress made a comment that the “Walk the Line” actor didn’t appreciate.
She told an interviewer, “Working with Phoenix was kind of like working with a puppy dog or a 2-year-old.” And that turned out to be a bad move.
Joaquin fired back in a recent interview with Playboy magazine. “Had I known I was supposed to be a puppy dog, I would have been much more cute and more consistently attentive. My apologies, Eva, but I had a few other scenes that you weren’t in. This puppy dog had a lot of work to do.”
Ouch.

Taking some time off from insulting Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes has embarked on a new phase of her career: Calendar Girl.
The “Hitch” hottie was smashing in a yellow gown at the launch of her new Campari Calendar 2008. The event took place at Superstudio in Milan, Italy yesterday.
Campari’s new calendar features Mendes in twelve different fairytale fantasy scenes, photographed by world famous photographer Marino Parisotto.
The assorted scenes in the calendar include, Little Red Riding Hood, Thumbelina, The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Puss in Boots, Cinderella, Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty & The Beast, Pinocchio, The Little Match Girl, and Sleeping Beauty.
And Eva raved about the whole experience. She told press, “The Campari* Calendar has been a truly unique experience. I had never posed for a calendar before and I was thrilled that Campari has given me the opportunity to interpret these wonderful stories… who wouldn’t want to live a fairytale even if for a short while?”

She’s married to Chris Martin from Coldplay, and has two amazingly cute kids, but Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t satisfied to rest on her laurels. She recently began filming a new movie, and it sounds like a good one.
The “Shallow Hal” actress began working on “Two Lovers” two weeks ago in New York City, despite the fact that she’s become really picky regarding which projects she’ll agree to.
Director James Gray, revealed, “I said to her, ‘Will you come do this with me and Joaquin?’ And she said for me to send her the script: ‘I don’t know, Apple has school in the fall.’ I sent her the script, and she liked it.”
Speaking of Joaquin Phoenix, reportedly he and Gray are buddies after having worked on “We Own The Night” together. But “Two Lovers” isn’t in the same violent vein as “Night.”
Gray, who also co-wrote the film, told press, “It’s a small and rather beautiful romance between Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow. It has nothing to do with this — no shootouts.”

Clearly trying out a new hairdo for the holidays, Tobey Maguire was spotted leaving his dinner at Mr. Chow restaurant last night in Los Angeles, California.
While the coif is questionable, he looked otherwise normal, in a pair of jeans and a v-neck sweater as he made his way to his car.
You can be sure the “Spider-Man” actor didn’t stop to give an autograph, though. According to Autograph Magazine, he’s one of the worst celebrities when it comes to indulging fans with a signature or photo op.
