Ex-Friend Taking Matt LeBlanc to Trial
How you doin’? If you ask Matt LeBlanc, not so good.
A Los Angeles judge has ruled that a breach-of-contract lawsuit brought against the erstwhile Friends star by his ex-business manager can proceed to trial.
Superior Court Judge Harold I. Cherness shot down a motion by LeBlanc’s legal team seeking to dismiss the complaint filed last August by Camille Cerio, who claims she’s owed over $1 million in commissions.
Although Team LeBlanc insists Cerio received more than $200,000 in payments, her attorney, Alan Harris, said that amount was a pittance, since the actor’s royalties on Friends and Joey alone generate royalties over $100 million.
“This was something unheard of in the history of television,” Harris told the judge of LeBlanc’s windfall.
Cerio managed LeBlanc’s career beginning in 1994, when he first hit big on the now classic NBC sitcom. She alleges in her suit that LeBlanc agreed to pay her 15 percent of his earnings from all pilots and series spinoffs “derived” from Friends. But the checks stopped coming in 2000, four years before Friends ended its run.
No immediate comment from either side. A trial date has been set for Sept. 22.
Rosie O’Donnell starring in a Nip/Tuck spin off?
It worked for Mork and Mindy, The Jeffersons, and those crafty crime scene detectives in Miami and New York, so why not Rosie? Now, the cynic in me also has that little voice in the back of his head whispering Joanie Loves Chachi, Joey, and Richie Brockelman, Private Eye, but let’s give this one the benefit of the doubt until we know more.
Rumor has it that FX is considering a half hour spinoff featuring O’Donnell’s character from the upcoming season of Nip/Tuck. The as yet nameless series would be written by Nip/Tuck creator Ryan Murphy. There is no official word on the show at this time, but when asked if she was considering the show by a fan on her website Rosie answered ’yes’. Take that for what it is.
The new season of Nip/Tuck premieres September 5th on FX and will be covered each and every week here at TV. More info on Rosie’s Nip/Tuck character after the jump, with small spoilers.

Rosie will play Dawn Budge, a lottery winning housewife who uses part of her newfound $381 million fortune to get liposuction. Then she heads home to New York to dump her husband and start a new life. You can catch her in Episode 5 of the new season. It doesn’t sound like a spin off I would watch. Are there any Nip/Tuck fans out there looking forward to this possibility?
New Kids on the Block Hit the Today Show
New Kids on the Block Hit the Today Show
In the late 1980s and early 1990s - before Backstreet Boys or NSync were even on the map - the New Kids on the Block were stealing hearts, making hits, and selling tickets. And they’re poised to do it once again.
This morning on the Today Show, Jordan, Jonathan, Danny, Donnie, and Joey took the stage for the first time since 1994 to perform a medley of their hits, “The Right Stuff,” “Please Don’t Go Girl,” “Step by Step,” and “Hangin Tough” before launching into their new hit “Summertime.” And the nearly-3000 fans in attendance (some who waited since Wednesday) were ecstatic.
And the fun doesn’t stop there- the Boston boys will be doing couple of gigs in East Rutherford, New Jersey as well as their hometown as a warm-up for their big North American tour this fall.
In an industry where bands like the Spice Girls and the Police have had such amazing comeback tours, it looks like the New Kids on the Block are eager for their piece of the pie.
