John Cusack Fan Gets a Doctor’s Appointment
The doctor is in.
Not quite convinced that she’s fit to stand trial, a judge has ordered that the woman accused of stalking John Cusack be examined by a psychiatrist before the case proceeds.
Emily Leatherman was charged with felony stalking and two misdemeanor counts of disobeying a restraining order and petty theft after being arrested March 30 when police found her too close to Cusack’s Malibu home for comfort.
The complaint against her alleges she has been making untoward attempts to contact the High Fidelity star since February 2007.
L.A. Superior Court Judge Susan M. Speer ordered both sides back in court July 11.
Leatherman, who has pleaded not guilty to all of the above and has been behind bars since her arrest, is facing up to four years in prison if convicted.
John Cusack’s Presidential Quiz Show
John Cusack has a challenge for you.
The actor’s latest foray into the political arena is a 30-second video debuting on CNN and Bravo tomorrow for MoveOn.org in which he encourages people to take the Bush-McCain Challenge, a five-question online quiz that presents how similar the president and White House hopeful really are.
“MoveOn.org members, and millions of other Americans, including me, share a common belief that Americans just cannot take another four years of Bush policies,” Cusack says in a release. “I think the Bush-McCain Challenge gives people the opportunity to check the record for themselves.”
A McCain spokesman referred questions about the ad to the Republican National Committee.
“Here’s an honest pop quiz: Who opposed funding our troops in Iraq? And whose agenda is out-of-touch with average Americans?” RNC spokesman Alex Conant wrote in an email. “Answer: Both Barack Obama and MoveOn.org.”
Amanda Peet: Not Done Acting Yet
Amanda Peet: Not Done Acting Yet
Some celebrity mothers would rather concentrate on their parenting role than an acting gig. But Amanda Peet says she’s not one of them.
The “Igby Goes Down” actress says that despite the birth of her 8-month-old daughter, she still plans to pursue her acting career.
Peet told press, “I want to work. I’m not one of those actresses who’s like, ‘I just want to be home with my baby.’ But maybe that’s because I don’t have an Academy Award or a private jet.”
The 35-year-old actress’ new movie “Martian Child” (with John Cusack) opens in theaters on Friday. It looks like an excellent flick, so perhaps her award-less status will take a turn for the better.
Hilary Duff Role Based On Britney Spears?
Hilary Duff Role Based On Britney Spears?
While she’s quietly been building a relationship with hockey star Mike Comrie over the past few months, Hilary Duff spent Saturday night on an evening out with the girls.
The Lizzie Maguire actress appeared in high spirits as she left Central nightclub in Hollywood, where she enjoyed time with her older sister Haylie and a few friends.
As far as her professional life is concerned, Duff stars alongside John Cusack in War, Inc., which is scheduled to premiere at Sundance this month.
Speaking to press about Hilary’s character in the film, Cusack recently told the Sun Times: “She plays a very slutty pop star, which is the real joke. The idea of Hilary, who is so classy and wholesome, playing a slut is funny.”
Interestingly enough, it looks as if the role is actually modeled on troubled pop tart Britney Spears, as Cusack teased: “In our movie, she’s a slutty singer who wants to be like one the girls in the headlines now, although we don’t need to name names.”
