Nicole Richie Takes On “Chuck” Role
Nicole Richie Takes On “Chuck” Role
Escorted by her usual driver/handler, Nicole Richie continued along with her responsible ways by attending her weekly traffic school session on Wednesday (June 25).
And there’s good news coming out of the Richie camp, as the people at NBC have announced to People magazine that the former Simple Life star will be taking on a guest role on the sitcom Chuck.
According to the station’s reps, “Richie will play a snarky and spiteful girl who tortured actress Yvonne Strahovski’s character in high school. In the episode, airing sometime this fall, Strahovski’s character, Special Agent Sarah Walker, must face her fears when she is forced to attend her 10-year high school reunion, for a mission with costar Zachary Levi (Chuck) as her date.”
Executive producer Josh Schwartz seems excited about having Ms Richie on the set, telling press: “Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny. This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt. It’s going to be really fun.”
Michael Strahan follows in Nicole Richie’s footsteps on Chuck
Anyone who’s followed the NFL over the last fifteen years knew what Michael Strahan’s plans were going to be after retirement: TV, TV and more TV. It was a given; during most of his career with the Giants, Strahan loved to be in front of the camera, and often did commentary and studio gigs on his off-weeks or during the playoffs.
Now, with a Super Bowl ring in-hand, the newly-retired defensive end is making his move. Not only has he joined the FOX NFL pregame show, but he also just completed filming a cameo on the NBC geek adventure comedy Chuck. He plays Mitt, the manager of the sporting goods store that’s in the same shopping center as Buy More, the store where Chuck works. He and his crew take over the home theater portion of the store during lunchtimes, playing Madden ’09 and making a mess. My guess is that we’ll set up a geeks vs. jocks scenario with retail being the venue, instead of the locker room.Strahan follows in the footsteps of Nicole Richie, who is set to play a guest role on the show this fall as well. Wow. Talk about a spectrum; it shows you that nerds love everyone, from the anorexic starlet to the big bruising ex-jock. It truly shows that Josh Schwartz is an equal opportunity employer.
Of course, how well they do in their respective roles is a whole other matter. Let’s hope Strahan does well; I’ve always liked the guy and think he could do well as an actor, even with that huge gap in his front teeth.
Nicole Richie’s Amok in Chuck
Nicole Richie’s providing some fresh meat for Chuck.
NBC just confirmed that Richie will be popping into the spy series for an episode in which she plays the former high school nemesis of resident babe Sarah, played by Yvonne Strahovski. (So very Lohan on Betty, right?) Richie plays a “snarky and spiteful girl who tortured Sarah,” and something tells me she’s gonna so regret that when she sees that Sarah can split hairs with a Ninja knife. (Hooray for catfights!)
“Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny,” says Chuck boss Josh Schwartz. “This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt.”

Nicole Richie to guest star on Chuck
This fall Special Agent Sarah Walker will get a blast from the past as she attends her ten-year high school reunion and comes face-to-face with her old nemesis. Nicole Richie will play a spiteful and sarcastic character who tortured the special agent for years. Sarah Walker has to go to the reunion for a mission; her date, of course, is Chuck.
Executive producer Josh Schwartz says Nicole Richie is actually quite funny: “Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny. This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt.”
This is not Nicole Richie’s first guest starring role. The Simple Life star has appeared on 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and American Dreams. Richie was recently featured on the cover of both People and Harper’s Bazaar. She is launching a jewelry ling this fall called House of Harlow 1960.
I’m skeptical. I like Nicole Richie better than Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. But I fear it will take more this for Richie to be elevated out of the “people who really shouldn’t be famous” category. What do you think?
Chuck will air Mondays from 8 to 9 p.m. ET / PT on NBC this fall.
