Nicole Richie Comes to Chuck!

Fellas, whip out your drool cloths, ’cause Yvonne “Strahotski” Strahovski is about to girlfight again—this time with guest star Nicole Richie.

NBC just confirmed that the rumors are true. Richie will be popping into Chuck for an episode in which she will play Sarah’s (Yvonne) former high school nemesis. (So very Lohan on Betty, right?) Richie plays a “snarky and spiteful girl who tortured Sarah,” and something tells me she’s gonna so regret that whe she sees Sarah has the ability split hairs with a ninja knife. (Hooray for catfights!)
“Nicole auditioned for the part and was very funny,” says Chuck boss Josh Schwartz. “This role is a great opportunity for her to show off her comedic skills and be diabolically evil and kick some butt.”
In other breaking news (which might make some of you fellas cry), Yvonne herself tells us we won’t see much of her signature Weinerlicious costume this season, and Jamie Kennedy, who just started work on the Ghost Whisperer set right next to Chuck tells me, “They just blew up something big, but I can’t say what it is.”
So something tells me—spoiler alert!—the Weinerlicious hut might go boom. If so, get your free toasted weenies all over the streets of Burbank right now! Bring your buns!
Nicole Richie on Chuck—yay or nay? Comment below. (I vote yay.)
Gossip Girl Boss Says Spinoff Rumors Are Not True
Attention, Upper East Siders: “Little J” has not left the building.
This is the latest coming out of Camp Gossip Girl after the Hollywood Reporter reported this morning that executive producer Josh Schwartz and his crew are working on a Gossip spinoff, most likely surrounding Taylor Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey (aka Li’l J), who was the subject of a spinoff series for the Gossip books.
But Schwartz himself says the rumors are not true.
“Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment,” Schwartz tells me. “The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start.”

Exclusive! Gossip Girl Boss Says Spinoff Rumors Are Not True

Attention, Upper East Siders: “Little J” has not left the building.

This is the latest coming out of Camp Gossip Girl after the Hollywood Reporter reported this morning that executive producer Josh Schwartz and his crew are currently working on a Gossip spinoff, most likely surrounding Taylor Momsen’s character, Jenny Humphrey (aka Li’l J), who was the subject of a spinoff series for the Gossip books.
I just emailed Schwartz himself to get the real story, and he tells me the rumors are not true:

“Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment,” Schwartz tells me. ”The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start.”
Holla! Personally, I’m thrilled to hear that Schwartz is keeping his creative mojo focused on the two shows we already know and love: Chuck and Gossip Girl, you?
You know you love it.

Josh Schwartz vs. Josh Schwartz: A TV Viewer's Dilemma

Dear Kristin,
I just looked at NBC’s newly released fall schedule and they scheduled Chuck at the exact same time as Gossip Girl: Mondays at 8 p.m.! That means that we fans of the great and powerful Schwartz must choose between the deliciously addictive Gossip Girl and the contagiously likable Chuck. I know this is the era of DVR but for a lot of people this will prove to be a problem. We don’t all have the fancy gizmos in our homes just yet. Not to mention it seems like poor planning on the part of both networks. Can you get us the scoop on how Josh Schwartz feels about competing with himself. It’s got to be an awkward situation.
Sincerely, Pete
Whaaat?! Is that true? Erm…checking…checking…YES! OK, Josh Schwartz: What do you think of this scheduling conundrum?
Kristin,
It’s a high class problem, I know, so I shouldn’t be upset…but it definitely makes me slightly anxious. And my parents will have to get a second TiVo.
We start shooting Chuck on Friday and so far the first five scripts are great. I think each one is better than our best episode last year. We’ve had a nice break to recharge and regroup, and it’s going to be a really fun season.
Gossip Girl starts up in a month and we’re just riding the momentum out of the finale and all the stories that it sets up for next year.
These two shows play to different audiences, although I wouldn’t mind some more dudes checking out Gossip Girl, and some older ladies hanging with Chuck.
Best solution: Get a dual DVR. And watch ’em both within the three-hour window allotted by Nielsen to count for ratings!
—Josh
OK, TV fans, I’ll get my husband to watch Gossip Girl if you get your moms to watch Chuck. Cool?
Now, if you are one of the humble TV watchers with just one TiVo, which one will you watch? Post your pick in the comments!
