New Miley Cyrus Video: Teddy Bear Overload

Rest easy, Miley Cyrus fans. Breakout may be the title of her upcoming album, but for us, the 15-year-old is clearly not straying very far from the bubble-gum pop persona that has made her a tween sensation.

This weekend saw the release of the video for her new single, “7 Things,” which finds Miley, along with her “girlfriends,” lashing out at their exescomplete with hurt looks, the occasional teardrop and, just to make sure the angst is properly conveyed, enough stuffed animals to put Build-A-Bear to shame.

So check it out and let us know what you think. Is Miley shaking up that Hannah Montana image of hersor is it simply a case of Kelly Clarkson lite?

Vanessa Hudgens Wasn’t Looking To Be Famous

Vanessa Hudgens Wasn’t Looking To Be Famous

She’s one of the most recognizable singer/actresses of the up and coming generation in Hollywood, but Vanessa Hudgens says she never meant for it to be this way.

The High School Musical hottie confesses that the whole fame and fortune thing was never a part of her original plan.  She told press, “I became an actress and started singing and dancing because I truly loved it.  I did not want to be a celebrity. … I think fame is just something that comes along when you are in something that is such a success.”

And along with celebrity comes other undesirable side-effects.  “People become jaded and infatuated with Hollywood.  I think it happens to a lot of celebrities, and it messes with their head.”

If not for HSM, Hudgens says she may have taken a more Kelly Clarkson route.  “I was 15 at the time … and you had to be 16 to audition.  So I thought, ‘One more year.’ Then, when I turned 16, High School Musical came along and I got to do it. So I thought I’d skip on American Idol.”

Mandy Moore Goes Aussie

Mandy Moore Goes Aussie

The latest in the long line of celebrities living it up in Australia is none other than Mandy Moore.  And something tells us the Aussies are having a great time with the “Candy” singer.

Mandy was busy performing at the Beautiful Girls Ladies Fashion lunch at the Victorian Racing Club in Melbourne earlier today (they’re 16 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time).  And she’s been keeping her fans up-to-date on her activities via her MySpace page.

Her latest post reads, “Greetings from Dan Undah! Once again, I have to say this country blows me away in EVERY way. We just got to Adelaide after spending three full days in Perth. Amazing. We played two shows with Ben Lee opening for him before he took the stage in front of a 65-piece orchestra. Words can’t explain how brilliant he is and how genius the arrangements were of his songs. He had the crowds in the palm of his hands.”

“It was a bit awkward to step on stage here for the first time here in years - especially with my own music and (and no dancers that I’m sure a bulk of the audience might have been expecting!) We are touring barebones-style with just Loren on piano and Chaves on guitar. It’s actually really great sometimes to not have the pressure of the full band but I can’t wait to get back down here with the set-up we toured with in the States.”

“For the next week, we’ll be doing a short intimate set opening for Kelly Clarkson down here and then off to Manila to play one show there on the 12th.”

“Happy to come home after this trip and really dig into some film projects I’ve had my eyes on now that everything is back up in motion. I am so ready to get back to work in terms of writing my next record, recording some demos and hopefully locking in a compelling and challenging film project.”

Grand Ole Carrie!

Carrie Underwood

Adding another notch on her I'm-way-more-successful-than-Kelly-Clarkson belt, country music sweetheart Carrie Underwood was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry Saturday night.

The American Idol season four champion and three-time Grammy Award winner told the sold-out crowd, "This really seems like a great family to be part of. I promise I'll do everything I possibly can to not make you regret it."

Country music star and Opry member Garth Brooks presented the award to Underwood, who is the current Female Vocalist of the Year for the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He told her, "Nothing will last as long or be more important than this award right here tonight. Congratulations."

Membership to the Opry is invitation-only and based on the artist's commitment to the show and overall contribution to country music. Underwood, 25, made her debut on the 83-year-old radio program in 2005, just two weeks after winning Idol. She's currently on the road headlining her Carnival Ride tour.
