Brittany Murphy can stop feeling like she’s always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Murphy has been engaged to two other men in the past few years. She broke off her engagement to Joe Macaluso in 2006 and Jeff Kwatinetz in 2004. But this time, it seems to have stuck.
Brittany Murphy is finally married… to screenwriter Simon Monjack, says a source that spilled the beans to UsWeekly. The source said the two were seen wearing wedding rings over the weekend at the Playboy event at the Kentucky Derby.
“(Murphy and Montjack) were drinking Crown Royal, and didn’t want photographers to take pictures of their rings because they were waiting to make a formal announcement on Monday. They were dancing in the V.I.P. section and around DJ Reach’s booth. They looked very excited, happy and jovial.”
With all the craziness going on around Murphy and Monjack’s nuptials, it will be interesting to see where this merger will take them professionally. They are both accomplished in their respective fields, and there’s no sign of slowing down. Murphy’s film credits include Clueless, Don’t Say A Word, 8 Mile, Just Married and Sin City. Monjack’s writing credits include Factory Girl (starring Sienna Miller).

The Kentucky Derby oozes class. The wealthy and proper come from miles to witness horse racing’s “Super Bowl.” So what was Kid Rock doing there? Rap battling and talking up Kevin Federline, what else?
This past Saturday, Kid Rock and Kevin Federline both attended the prestigious horse race. It seems Kid Rock had some fatherly advice for K-Fed. “Kevin Federline should keep his sons with Britney Spears and his two kids with Shar Jackson out of the limelight,” said Rock.
“You never see me photographed with the kids,” Federline replied, Rock tells People. For a guy whose ex-wife is taking up enough room on gossip mag covers, it must be all he can do to keep himself and his kids out of the spotlight.
Earlier that morning, Kid Rock and K-Fed busied themselves in other ways. At a party at Louisville’s Felt nightclub, sponsored by the New York hotspot Stereo and Pama liqueur, Rock took control of the DJ booth around 4:30 a.m. before engaging in a rap battle with Federline.
“Everybody wanna be a friend of mine – you, you, you, you, you, you and even Federline!” Rock rapped.
“I like calling that kid’s name really loud,” he later joked.
Who knew that such a high society event would be so well attended by America’s white rappers?

With the onslaught of American Idol, everyone thinks they can sing. It’s a good thing that there are Simon Cowells out there to set the tone deaf straight. Even hottie Vanessa Minnillo had a go at belting out a tune the other night at a celebrity event. And Nick Lachey got to silence her Cowell-style.
Minillo was an honoree at a teenage pregnancy prevention event where she introduced singer/songwriter Jackson Browne. As the former Miss Teen USA announced Browne’s performance, she attempted to sing one of his songs. Apparently it wasn’t good.
“As you can hear, I’m not getting a recording contract any time soon. I was singing (”Running on Empty”) in the car on the way over, and Nick told me to stop (singing) and leave it to the man himself,” Minnillo told the New York Daily News.
It has been a busy time for the new roommates. They partied it up at the Kentucky Derby, and then jetted off to the launch of the Cove Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas (the same launch Ivana Trump had to suddenly leave to attend the birth of her new granddaughter Kai Madison Trump).
Nick and Vanessa seem to be taking all the right steps to build a healthy future together. The family that plays together, stays together.
