Britney Spears and K-Fed: Back in Court

Britney Spears and K-Fed: Back in Court

Believe it or not Britney Spears and Kevin Federline still haven’t ironed out all of the details regarding the custody of their two sons Jayden James and Sean Preston.

And the ex-couple was back in court this morning for yet another visitation hearing.  Apparently the “Gimme More” singer is saying ‘gimme more visitation,’ seeking an arrangement above and beyond her current three-a-week supervised visits.

First to arrive at the courthouse was K-Fed, sporting a beige suit and a low-key, somber disposition.  As always, he was accompanied by his lawman Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Shortly after her ex-husband, Britney showed up, along with her father Jamie Spears.  Once inside, she was also joined by Laura Wasser, who has rejoined Spears’ legal team.

As long as the “Piece of Me” songstress and her ex-hubby can figure things out by August, they’ll avoid a lengthy trial.  And Kaplan says that’s what they’re aiming for.

“Our goal is to settle what we can without a trial to achieve what’s in the best interest of the children.  But whatever can’t be resolved with a private mediator will be brought to trial.”

Britney Spears has made a subtle change for the betterand, it follows, so too have her custody rights.

This morning’s court session, attended by both Spears and Kevin Federline, resulted in “a change of visitation status” for the new aunt, Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told reporters at a brief posthearing press conference.

While Parachini wasn’t spilling the beans, sources told News that Court Commissioner Scott Gordon granted Spears overnight visits with her sons, beginning as soon as this weekend.

The modification has been a long time coming for the 26-year-old singer, whose attorneys have been hammering out a new custody agreement with Federline legal team for a while. The terms were finally agreed upon and approved by the court today.

“Both sides have been very cooperative the past couple of weeks,” said Parachini.

The boys2-year-old Sean Preston and 21-month-old Jayden Jamesare tentatively scheduled to spend Saturday night with Spears. Federline, 30, retains primary custody of the youngsters.

The outcome seemed to sit well with both parties.

When leaving the courtroom, Spears told reporters she was happy with today’s decision, and Federline made his way through the media scrum with a smile on his face.

Parachini also verified that the singer’s on-off attorney Laura Wasser was in fact back on Team Spears, and that the entertainer’s parenting coach made comments.

A status conference on the terms of the duo’s visitation is scheduled to take place July 15. A trial date for the ongoing custody battle is still scheduled for August.

Britney Spears may be one step closer to that cousin summit she’s been hoping for.

The pop star and ex-husband Kevin Federline are in Los Angeles Superior Court awaiting a hearing on the terms of custody for their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

To avoid mingling with the common folk, the former fun couple were sequestered in a private chambers just off the courtroom, awaiting their respective attorneys: Blair Berk and the returning Laura Wasser for her; Mark Vincent Kaplan for him.

Spears, in a white blouse and khakis, and Federline, in a gray suit, arrived separately around 8:30 a.m., entering the complex through a garage to circumvent paparazzi. Her father and conservator of her estate, Jamie Spears, is also accounted for.

A source tells News their attorneys have been in discussions in recent weeks about allowing the boys to have overnight visitation with Spears, 26. The “Gimme More” singer had been hoping overnights would have started over a week ago, the insider says, but that was delayed. Federline, 30, has said he wants the kids to be able to spend more time with their mother.

Spears has also been talking about her desire to have her sons meet their brand-new cousin, Jamie Lynn’s daughter, Maddie, if she is able to eventually get permission to fly the boys down to Louisiana.

Sleepovers would be a start.

Baby steps.
