Eva Mendes Plays Coy on Rehab Details
Don’t look for Eva Mendes to be spillin’ all about her visit to rehab.
“There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge,” the starlet says in the new Interview magazine, out July 15. “But I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care. So I will neither confirm or deny.”
Mendes actually feels better when stories are wrong rather right…
“But for all the stuff that came out a few months ago about substance abuse, there were so many wrong stories,” she says. “I was so happy about that, because it’s when they get the real scoop that would make me really nervous…You want it to be a lie, because when it’s true, that’s when I’d be like, ’Oh, my God!’ It’s time to rethink who’s in your circle, because stuff got out.”
Mendes also sounds off on the obstacles she faces as a Latina in Hollywood, including not being considered for the same parts as her pal Drew Barrymore. “But it’s like, ’No we want more of an American type of girl,’” she explains. “And it’s like, American has opened up. I’m an American girl, born and raised. I mean, I was into New Kids on the Block, just like Drew! Actually, I shouldn’t say that. I don’t know if she was. I’m going to text her on that one.”
(For the record, Barrymore is shooting right now and couldn’t be reached to ask if she is, in fact, a New Kids fan, but her rep did respond, “We do love Eva, though!”)
New Kids! New Edition! New Duet!
In what could be the greatest collaboration since Superman and Batman formed the Justice League, the reunited New Kids on the Block have teamed up with the reunited New Edition to save the worldor at least make thirtysomething suburban moms swoon.
“Donnie Wahlberg had this idea for a few months, looking for that one track for all of them,” producer Nadir “RedOne” Khawat tells People. “And I think we found it.”
The track, “Full Service,” was recorded last week and is set to appear on NKOTB’s upcoming album.
“It sounds very universal and melodic and has both sides in it: the R&B, which is New Edition, and the pop side for New Kids,” adds RedOne, calling the song “very uplifting.”
Whaddya think: Is “Full Service” going to lift up the oldsters to the top of charts or over the shark? Comment away…
Bobby: New Edition Brown Out "Best Thing for Me"
It remains to be seen whether New Edition and New Kids on the Block teaming up will be a super group or more of a stupor group. But whatever happens, it’s all gravy to a suddenly philosophical Bobby Brown, who now sees getting kicked out of New Edition years ago as a good thing when viewed in the rearview mirror:
“It was only them kicking me out the group that made me like, ’Yo, if I don’t succeed, I ain’t going to be [nothing] back home.’ But these Brothers did the best thing for me that could ever possibly be done. Teach me a lesson,” Brown tells Jet magazine in this week’s, um, new edition.
So far, there’s no guarantee Bobby will be part of the New/New amalgamation, but New Edition sources say they’ll definitely have a sixth mic ready. Because, y’know, it’s his prerogative.

Kristin Cavallari Heats Up MuchMusic Red Carpet
She’s one of the hottest women in young Hollywood, and last night Kristin Cavallari was looking scorching hot on the MuchMusic Video Awards red carpet.
The “Laguna Beach” babe was turning heads left and right in a shiny graphite-colored strapless dress with a pair of super-high peep-toe heels and her curly blonde locks.
The Chum/City Building in Toronto Canada was chock full of celebrity presence like Rihanna ( who won two awards ) and the newly-reunited New Kids on the Block, who performed a medley of their hits from the past.
As for Cavallari, we’ll be seeing quite a bit more of her in the months to come, as she has three movies (Green Flash, Spring Breakdown, and Wild Cherry) set to release later this year, as well as in early 2009.
