The RZA, Hans Zimmer Teamed Up to Score Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D.

One is the feted composer of films like True Romance and The Dark Knight, the other is the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan and a killer composer in his own right (Ghost Dog, Kill Bill). What do they both have in common? They both made appearances on the latest Slashfilm Muxtape! And in yet another example of the Effect, Zimmer and the RZA have combined their magic to score Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D., the sci-fi chaser opening late August that has taken forever to get released. Here’s what the guy also known as Bob Digi told an alt newspaper

“The RZA’s team and Hans Zimmer’s team have combined to create a hybrid kind of score for this movie that’s based in the future. So I think it’s going to be a good vibe for the audience out there, and it’s a good movie anyway – a very thought-provoking movie,” said The RZA (who got away with a lil’ third-person, but he’s The RZA, so hey!)

And add one more name to the film’s composer pot, Shavo Odadjian, the bassist for System of a Down aka “kids these days, I’ll tell ya.” That seems like a lot of effort/talent for a movie that hasn’t exactly put Geekdom on drool alert. RZA added that Tarantino has been holed up like a squirrel for many months—working on Inglorious Bastards, probs—and that he still mentions doing something more with Kill Bill, but, like a girl who leaves ya hangin’ on the phone, we all know how that goes.

Kill Bill reunion on Spike TV

Daryl HannahFor the first time since their roles in Kill Bill, David Carradine and Daryl Hannah will reunite for Kung Fu Killer. This two-part original movie miniseries is set to premiere on Spike TV this August. The movie is set in the late 1920s in China, before the Communist reign. Carradine will play White Crane, the orphaned son of Western missionaries who was raised by a monk to become a spiritual leader and master in martial arts.

In the first installment, White Crane will seek revenge on the mercenaries who raid his temple and murder his mentor. He infiltrates the Shanghai underworld. There he’ll meet Jane Marshall, played by Daryl Hannah, a Brooklyn lounge singer who is in China on her own journey. She is trying to recover her kidnapped brother, held hostage by Kahn Xin, leader of the same mercenaries who ransacked White Crane’s temple.

According to the press release, “Kung Fu Killer was shot entirely on location in China at the Zhejiang Heng Dian World Studios and the towns of Fong Yang and Heng Dian. The miniseries marked the first time a production of this scale was produced by a Western production company utilizing an almost exclusively Chinese crew.”

This movie also marks the singing debut of Daryl Hannah. She will perform period songs like “You Made Me Love You” and “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows.”

What do you think? Does Kung Fu Killer sound interesting to you?

Mr. Blonde’s London Meltdown

Michael Madsen

Say it ain’t so. Mr. Blonde has gone mental?

Michael Madsen, best known for playing the sadistic, ear-averse jewel thief in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, was forcibly hospitalized on Sunday after apparently going berserk and screaming at a woman in a London hotel.

According to U.K. media reports, the staff at the posh Dorchester called police after receiving complaints from guests about a disturbance coming from Madsen’s room in the West End hotel.

Officers found the 49-year-old thespian “screaming and shouting” at a female companion. When Madsen refused to calm down, cops forcibly restrained him and he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was treated for cuts and bruises before being discharged. He was not arrested.

The Hollywood tough guy, in London after wrapping work on the film The Big I Am, checked into the Dorchester on Saturday with a woman described as his wife and their 5-year-old daughter.

Madsen has been married to De Anna Morgan, his third wife, since 1996, and the couple have three children together (he has two from a previous marriage).

The actor is most often known for roles as big-screen heavies in such films as Donnie Brasco, Mulholland Falls, Kill Bill and Sin City. Other notable credits include Thelma & Louise, Wyatt Earp, Free Willy, Species and Die Another Day.

Madsen’s rep, Liza Anderson, said she was aware of an incident but declined to comment.

Uma Thurman To Face Creepy Stalker

Uma Thurman To Face Creepy Stalker

While fame definitely has its upside, the downside of stardom can be equally as bad.  And it looks like Uma Thurman will have to face her stalker in court, as he just refused a plea deal.

Thurman’s lawyers proposed a plea deal with Jack Jordan, who is facing charges of harassment and felony coercion, to allow him to enter a mental health program in order to avoid having to take the case to court.

But Johnson reportedly refused, saying he wanted to see the “Kill Bill” actress “close up.” His lawyer, George Vomvolakis, told press, “My client has expressed a serious desire to go to trial.”

So what’s next?  It looks like the harassment/coercion case will go to trial, with Johnson facing up to the maximum sentence if he’s found guilty.  And after his creepy reasoning for turning down the plea deal, it’s safe to say he’ll be found guilty.
