Blake Lively and Penn Badgley: Canoodling Couple

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley: Canoodling Couple

Sometime costar romances work, and sometimes they don’t.  But when it comes Blake Lively and Penn Badgley things certainly seem to be going pretty well.

The Gossip Girl sweethearts were spotted having fun and grabbing some grub last night at Tortilla Flats in New York City prior to hailing a cab and heading over to Starbucks.

Miss Lively looked flirty and fun in a blue and white ¾ sleeve collared mini dress with a pair of casual black flats, while Penn looked laid back in a grey t-shirt and khaki shorts teamed with a pair of white sneakers.

And with the 2008 Teen Choice nominations having recently been announced, these two have a lot to look forward to.  Gossip Girl has been nominated for 14 awards including Choice TV Show, Choice TV Actress, and Choice TV Actor.

Adam Sandler Kicks Off Horror Label, Scary Madison, With Shortcut

Yes, watching Zohan is like sucking on a blow dryer with a mouthful of expired tuna, but don’t brush off Scary Madison just yet. That’s the name of Adam Sandler’s new horror label, an off-branch of his production company, Happy Madison, and the first SM film is a thriller entitled Shortcut. The reason why I’d hold out the trash talk for the time being? Shortcut will be directed by Nicholaus Goosen, whose previous film was Grandma’s Boy; a pretty effing assured, laid back and original comedy if you actually saw it. Here’s the plot synopsis: “two brothers come upon a rarely used shortcut in their new town and soon discover the reasons why it’s so rarely used.” Sounds like Pet Sematary with a scary Penguin.

Stars include relative newbies like Adam Seeley, Shannon Woodward and Dave Franco (cameo in Superbad, Greek). Maybe it’s blind faith on my part, but I’m looking forward to what Goosen has in store. Filming commences next month.

Britney Spears Holds Her Own with Ryan Seacrest

Britney Spears Holds Her Own with Ryan Seacrest

In light of the prolonged media lambasting of her character, Britney Spears appeared on Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show today to promote her new album and set the record straight.

The “Gimme More” singer talked about her frustration with public perception, and constant scrutiny. “People say what they want and do what they do. Its sad how people … how cruel our world can be. But at the end of the day you gotta to know in your heart that you are doing the best that you can.”

Pushing the issue a big farther, Seacrest asked the mommy-of-two if she felt like she was doing her best with her boys.  Brit replied, “Oh god, yeah, yeah.”

With Blackout getting really great reviews from both fans and critics, Ryan asked the “Toxic” singer which new track was her favorite.  She replied, “I really like ‘Heaven on Earth.’ I think it’s a cool track. It’s kind of different from all the other songs.”

As for her big record release day, Spears revealed that it wasn’t a high-profile party time.  “It was kind of laid back, really.  We watched movies, that’s about it.”

Mischa Barton Doesn’t Miss Marissa

Mischa Barton Doesn’t Miss Marissa

Feeling the luck o’ the Irish, Mischa Barton was spotted hanging out at the Merchant Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland.  She’s in town to promote her new film “Closing the Ring,” which premieres tonight at Waterfront Hall.

In her days since playing “Marissa” on The O.C., Barton says it’s been relatively easy to leave that part of her career behind her.

She told press, “Even if I was a precocious teenager, it’s a New York vs. L.A. thing. I never experienced the ‘anything goes’ chaos we sold on The O.C.”

The “Tart” actress explained that she’s much more level-headed and laid back than her primetime character ever was.  “Marissa was a nut case. I didn’t have much in common with her. In New York I’d want to go out at 15 or 16, but I got it out of my system.”

She even helped conjure up the concept for killing off Marissa.  “You have no idea how much fun I had doing that [scene]. I was on the set, yelling, “More blood! More blood!” She needed to go out with a bang.”
