Former Miss USA Ali Landry attended a Microsoft sponsored United Service Organizations “Salute Our Troops” for the military community this Veterans Day.
Landry presented the Effort Award to Patti Patton-Bader, who, according to press, is “a mother of a soldier who started a group for volunteers to “adopt” soldiers. The group has now sent tens of thousands of care packages and hundreds of thousands of letters to make sure no soldier is forgotten while serving.”
“The holidays are a time for family and sharing, and Microsoft is pleased to help make the season brighter for those who are giving so much,” said a Microsoft rep, adding, “We hope to make this Veterans Day a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience for our service members, volunteers and their families, all of whom give so much for our nation.”
Other celebrities taking part in the day included actresses Connie Britton and Minka Kelly from the NBC show “Friday Night Lights”; actresses Joely Fisher, Selena Gomez, and Connie Stevens; Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling; actors Lenny Clarke, Mike Lombardi and Jim McCaffrey and actresses Sherri Saum and Callie Thorne from the FX Networks show “Rescue Me”; Miss Teen USA, Hilary Cruz; Miss USA, Rachel Smith; and Miss Universe, Riyo Mori.
Former Doritos Girl Ali Landry Has a Daughter
Ali Landry and her husband, film director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, have welcomed their first child, daughter Estela, their rep tells PEOPLE.
The baby arrived just past 9:30 a.m. Wednesday and weighed 8 lbs., 2 oz.
“Mom and baby are doing great,” Landry’s rep says.
Landry, 33, a former Doritos pitchwoman, most recently appeared in Bella, written, directed and produced by her husband. The film won honors at the Toronto Film Festival.
Landry and Monteverde are “ecstatically happy,” the rep says, “and Estela couldn’t ask for more wonderful, loving parents.”
The couple, who reportedly met at Bible study, were married in April 2006 in Mexico.

Ali Landry (born July 21, 1973) is an actress best known as a spokesperson for Doritos, for whom she appeared in celebrated commercials aired during the 1998 and 1999 Super Bowls. A trained gymnast, she still required hours of takes to get the seconds of footage doing acrobatic stunts for the commercials. She got national fame after winning the 1996 Miss USA pageant, as the contestant from Louisiana. In later years she has hosted the pageant.
Ali Landry grew up in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, USA. Ali is of French descent.
She has participated in the show Fear Factor, and was runner up. An avid athlete, she also participated in the Boston Marathon.
Starting in 2003 she played in the UPN sitcom Eve.
She married longtime boyfriend Mario Lopez in 2004, and two weeks after marriage, filed for divorce because she claims that he cheated on her during his bachelor party.
