Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr: Poolside Perfection
Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr: Poolside Perfection
Getting an all-over tan, Orlando Bloom and his Victoria’s Secret model girlfriend Miranda Kerr weren’t shy about stripping down during a business/pleasure trip to the Canary Islands.
Besides steaming up the catwalk at the Gran Canaria Moda Calida show in Las Palmas, Kerr was sure to make time for her “Pirates of the Caribbean” hunk of a boyfriend - as the two frolicked about by the pool with Orlando dropping his drawers and Miranda tossing off her top.
In related news, Miranda, a 25-year-old Australian, recently announced that she’ll be in Melbourne in August for the David Jones Summer Collections launch, as she’s ambassador for the store and recently finished shooting her first catalogue.
Meanwhile, Orlando finds himself getting ready to take on a new role in the movie “The Red Circle”, which co-stars Liam Neeson and Yun-Fat Chow.
Spielberg Elects Lincoln
Now that he's got Indiana Jones out of his system, Steven Spielberg is ready to get serious again.
While making the PR rounds for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the Oscar-winning filmmaker announced he's cast his vote for his next feature project: an Abraham Lincoln biopic, which could start shooting early next year.
Per Variety, Spielberg has postponed production on The Trial of the Chicago Seven, about the tumultuous 1968 Democratic National Convention, because he was unable to get a polished script due to the writers' strike.
But he does have a solid screenplay for Lincoln from Angels in America playwright (and Munich scribe) Tony Kushner.
First up, though, is Tintin, the opening installment in a trilogy of movies he and Peter Jackson are making based on the popular European comic strip. Then Spielberg will tackle Lincoln.
The Civil War epic will star Liam Neeson, who agreed to play the fallen president three years ago and has been cooling his heels waiting for the green light. After that, Spielberg will choose between Chicago Seven or the top-secret sci-fi tale he's been prepping, Interstellar.
Taken Movie Trailer
You might be wondering, what is Taken? I’m not talking about the Steven Spielberg produced alien abduction miniseries from a few years ago.
I’m talking about the new french triller from District B13 director Pierre Morel, based on a script co-written by Robert Mark Kamen (The Transporter) and Luc Besson (The Professional). Liam Neeson stars as a father who goes on a manhunt after his daughter is kidnapped in Paris.
Taken is set to be released overseas in February 2008, and currently doesn’t have a U.S. release. I don’t see why Fox wouldn’t release this film in the states. It looks like it has lot of American sensibilities, a great cast, intense story, and fantastic cinematography. Watch the trailer below.
Harrison Ford to play Andrew Johnson in Spielberg’s Lincoln?
Over at Chud, there is a crazy-eyed-killah of a rumor going around that Harrison Ford is in cahoots with Steven Spielberg to star in his upcoming Lincoln, an ambitious film set to unravel the mystery behind the popular children’s toy. Ford is purported to have a droopy eye on the role of Andrew Johnson, the 17th American president (and not Lincoln as parodied in the photo to the right), who took office after the 16th was assassinated by a mustachioed thespian. According to Wikipedia, the 16th American president was a tall, bearded man named Abraham Lincoln (to be played by Liam Neeson) whose family I’m guessing eventually starting making great toys. I would imagine.
Now, many might dismiss this as bogus since news also broke this week that Sacha Baron Cohen is a lock to star as afro’d ‘60s rabble rouser Abbie Hoffman in Spielberg’s Chicago 7. And since that casting info was followed by a quizzical avalanche of stars including Will Smith, Adam Arkin and Kevin Spacey who are also said to be up for a role in the latter film, it seems Spielberg drew straws and the revolutionary longhairs won out. But since Spielberg likes to challenge himself by firing up two projects simultaneously (see War of the Worlds and Munich), I’d bet there’s truthiness here. Hopefully, Ford caught the acting bug after doing the new Indiana Jones installment, and it’d be fantastic to see him in a role where he’s not slowly smashing through a door that’s on fire.
Personally, I want to see Lincoln realized first. It’s been a long time coming and assuming that Spielberg is still in the deeply ruminative, almost melancholic, period of his career, I’d pay to simply watch him direct smoke on a battlefield. I happen to agree with Devin at Chud that Spielberg is not an ideal fit for Chicago 7, material that warrants a director with an anarchistic heart to get today’s youth figuratively off the shore and into the rocky waters. But which would you rather see and how do you feel about Spielberg’s latest passion projects?
