Dirty Sexy Money gets a new showrunner

Donald SutherlandThere have been a lot of personnel changes made to the cast and creative staff of Dirty Sexy Money lately. Only four months after replacing original showrunner Josh Reims, Daniel Cerone has left his executive producer/showrunner position. Big Shots creator Jon Feldman is Cerone’s replacement.

Apparently ABC didn’t share Cerone’s vision for a darker season two of Dirty Sexy Money. Fortunately, Cerone is leaving on good terms with the network. He still has a two-year deal with the ABC Studios. There will be an unexpected early break in production so that showrunner duties can be handed off to Jon Feldman.

I’m not sure what to expect from Dirty Sexy Money next season. There has only been one short season of the show, and DSM’s already on its third showrunner. Series regular Samaire Armstrong’s role has been scaled down, and Lucy Liu may be joining the cast. Will the show look and feel the same when it returns? If Cerone’s take on Dirty Sexy Money was too dark, will the series become more of a soapy drama?

Is this news cause for concern, or just the usual retooling?

Lucy Liu and Jack Black Premiere Kung Fu Panda

Lucy Liu and Jack Black Premiere Kung Fu Panda

When it comes to movie premieres, it doesn’t get more fun than the Hollywood debut of Kung Fu Panda featuring stars Jack Black and Lucy Liu.

It all went down in Hollywood, California as the “Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny” funnyman and his “Charlie’s Angels” babe co-star charmed the crowd and posed for pictures outside the theatre.

Miss Liu looked stunning in a multi-tiered ruffly halter-style pink dress with a pair of gladiator heels, while Jack kept it simple in a panda t-shirt, track pants and a pair of Puma sneakers.

Speaking of Mr. Black, Jack and his wife Tanya have just become parents again, as they welcomed their second child (a boy named Jack) into the world.  They have an almost-two-year-old named Samuel as well.

Lindsay Lohan’s Ugly Betty Role

Lindsay Lohan’s Ugly Betty Role

While the writer’s guild strike may delay any plans that they had, recent reports tell that Lindsay Lohan has been in talks to guest star on the hit show Ugly Betty.

Female First reports tell that the Georgia Rule actress and producers envision her playing “a fallen beauty queen who ends up working as an assistant manager of a fast food restaurant.”

Talking more about the guest appearance, a source told: “Betty (the show’s main character) tries to help Lindsay’s character by getting her a job at Mode, the fashion magazine where she works on the show.”

If everything pans out and Lindsay takes on the role, she’ll join fellow celebrities Victoria Beckham and Lucy Liu, who’ve both enjoyed Ugly Betty roles in the past.

Lucy Liu Glams Up Letterman

Lucy Liu Glams Up Letterman

It’s no secret that the late night shows have taken a hit as a result of the writers’ strike.  But David Letterman is pulling out all the stops to ensure his viewers enjoy the show.  And Lucy Liu showed up to lend a little sex appeal to Late Night yesterday.

The Charlie’s Angels babe was spotted outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in midtown Manhattan yesterday looking every bit the sexy Asian babe that she is.  In a pink 1940s-style dress complete with black arm-length gloves, Lucy looked happy enough to pose for the paps.

And in a recent interview, Liu confessed that she feels sorry for guys trying to keep up with women’s expectations of them.  “I think men are in some ways a little bit confused but I don’t mean that in a bad way. There was a time when they were expected to open the door for a woman and pay for dinner and do all of those things. Now they don’t really know what to do.”

She continued, “They don’t want to be chastised for not opening a door, but at the same time some women are happy to open a door themselves. It’s not something men appreciate or expect. Are men supposed to be men and pay for dinner or should they let the woman pay for dinner? I think it’s a difficult connection for men to understand.”
