Cynthia Rodriguez Files Divorce Papers
Cynthia Rodriguez Files Divorce Papers
As previously reported by the , things haven’t been going too peachy in the marriage between Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia. And as of this morning, she has officially filed for divorce.
Cynthia noted in the official documents that she has been ‘emotionally abandoned’ by her Yankees star husband. But that’s just the beginning of the allegations levied in the report.
She also claims that their marriage has been ‘irretrievably broken’ due to A-Rod’s “extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct.” Her lawyer reportedly told press that the whole Madonna affair was “the last straw,” though the documents didn’t name Madonna specifically.
And now for the payoff… Cynthia states that her soon-to-be-ex-husband is a “prominent athlete” with “substantial earning power,” who has the “fiscal capacity to continue his high style of living.” Therefore she’s asking for alimony, as well as their massive $12 million mansion in Coral Gables, Florida, and her Maybach.
In addition to alimony, Mrs. Rodriguez is requesting primary physical and legal custody of their two girls Ella and Natasha, as well as enough child support to maintain their current standard of living.
Madonna and Family: Life as Usual in NYC
Madonna and Family: Life as Usual in NYC
Stuck under a more-intense-than-usual spotlight ever since divorce and affair rumors started to build, Madonna and family have been doing their best to keep at their usual routine while staying in New York City.
And today was no different, as the whole gang went about their daily business, with Madge spotted leaving her Big Apple apartment to run a few errands wearing an Ed Hardy sweatshirt with a geisha on the back.
Meanwhile, Guy did his own thing by taking a walk with his trainer while, back at he and Madge’s place, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted running inside with a nanny tending to young David Banda.
Not to be left out, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon took her personal nanny out to an uptown nail salon before heading back and getting brother Rocco Ritchie for a trip to Chelsea Piers.
As for Madonna and Guy’s relationship status, a statement released to People magazine reads: “My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”
A-Rod’s Mystery Doc & Madonna’s Missing Prenup
With all this gossip about Madonna’s marriage and A-Rod’s divorce, I need a translator. What the heck is this antenuptial agreement A-Rod has? And does Madonna have one? Does she even have a prenup? Murray, Pelham, N.Y.
You will not believe the answers I’m about to give you. They’re so mind-blowing I don’t think I can share it here on the front page. Your corneas may explode. Do me a solid and follow me into the jump, so’s we can protect children and elderlies with weak or sensitive eyeballs.
The definition of antenuptial agreement is…the same as a prenup. Only a different word. Really.
“It’s just an old-fashioned way of saying it,” confirms celebrity divorce attorney Goldie Schon, whose firm handled the infamous Barry Bonds divorce.
But that’s not the cornea-blowing portion of our program. This part is: According to reports, Madonna has no prenuptial agreement with Guy Ritchie.
At all. If her feverish denials turn out to be false, and she and Ritchie are in fact headed for a divorce, she’ll be naked to the world, vulnerable in the eyes of family law. Ritchie could end up with quite a pot of dough.
“The issue would be what she was worth at the time she got married, and what she is worth now,” says Schon, who is familiar with the British laws that would most likely apply to Madonna and Ritchie. Ritchie would theoretically be entitled not to half of Madonna’s entire fortuneestimated at $600 millionbut half of the whatever increase in fortune Madonna made during the length of the marriage.
In other words, if Madonna’s worth grew by $50 million between 2000, when she married Ritchie in a Scottish castle, and now, Ritchie might be able to get $25 million, if there is, in fact, no prenup.
In not having one, Madonna has set herself apart from most of her fellows in the Legend Community.
“My guess is that upwards of 70 percent of celebrities have them,” Schon says. “I was surprised when I read reports she doesn’t have one.”
Among the celeb couples who have signed prenups: Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, Russell Crowe and wife Danielle Spencer, TomKat, and Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.
Now, go put some ice on your eyeballs.
Oh, and be my fan on Facebook, ’kay?
Madonna’s Bro Sets Date with GMA
Madonna sure likes attention, but even she can’t be too thrilled with how this week has started.
First was the A-Rod debaclenow there’s more from her estranged brother, Christopher Ciccone…
Just this morning, the publisher of Ciccone’s upcoming memoir, Life With My Sister Madonna, jumped on the Madge bandwagon by releasing the cover of the top-secret tome.
A rep for Simon Spotlight Entertainment says Ciccone’s first on-camera interview will be with Deborah Roberts for Good Morning America. Their taped interview will air July 14, followed by a live, in-studio one-on-one the next day, when the book officially goes on sale.
I can also report that Ciccone has been booked for an in-studio interview with E!’s own Chelsea Handler. A rep for Chelsea Lately confirms the sit-down is scheduled for July 23.
Until then, Ciccone is keeping quiet. Except for a July 1 update he posted on his Facebook profile, which reads, “Christopher is dancing on thin ice and loving it…”
