The New 90210’s Peach Pit Makeover

Peach Pit

The Peach Pit is back!

But it doesn’t look like the kitschy 1950s diner from the original 90210. Instead, the cast from the CW’s upcoming new 90210 will be hanging at a much sleeker restaurant.

Cast and crew landed at Los Angeles’ real-life Kokomo Cafe early this morning for two days of shooting using the eatery’s ultramodern brown and white interiorthough with a simple new Peach Pit logo.

I hear an exact replica is being built on an L.A.-area soundstage for future shooting, as well as a set for a Peach Pit nightclub upstairs from the restaurant

What’s not new, however, is at least one very familiar faceNat!

“They’ve got the original Nat inside,” an extra on the set gushed earlier today of actor Joe E. Tata.

Details of the shoot’s storyline is being kept under wraps. Sources say the owner of Kokomo and his staff had to sign confidentiality agreements.

Strawberry Shortcake, the next generation

Strawberry ShortcakeOne of the cartoon stars of the 80’s, Strawberry Shortcake, is getting a makeover. Apparently her owners, American Greetings Properties, is giving her character a new look that is more suitable for little girls of the 21st century.

The article goes over other cartoon properties which are attempting redesign to fit more in a modern context, such as Angelina Ballerina and the Looney Tunes characters. Even Disney is considering a redesign for Mickey Mouse.

The redesign may work for cartoons such as Strawberry Shortcake, which are attributable to a particular era, but I don’t think world-famous properties such as Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny should be messed with. The only redesign they did for Mickey that worked was giving him whites for his eyes rather than strictly pupils.

More often than not, updates on the concepts of an era fail (I’m thinking of Michael Bay’s The Transformers and the remake of The Honeymooners). What do you think? Will the new Strawberry Shortcake work?

Rumor Patrol: Rashida Jones in Office Spinoff?

Rashida Jones, The Office

Consider this only a rumor for the time being. However, word has been rippling through the TV biz today that Rashida Jones (aka Karen Filippelli, presently of Utica, New York) may star in the upcoming NBC spinoff of The Office.

Sounds pretty amazing to this Office (and Rashida) fan, so I did a little digging, and here’s where this stands: While one inside source (who has always been reliable) says “it’s true” that Rashida will be a part of the new series, another source inside Rashida’s camp says,  “As far as I know, she has not been approached.” Hmmm…

Meanwhile, a rep for Universal (which produces The Office) tells me: “Universal Media Studios has a talent holding deal with Rashida. It is premature to speculate about any potential projects she could be involved with.”

So where does that leave us? Right back where we started, with this being—so far—just a fascinating, plausible and wholly unconfirmed rumor. (Hmph.) Still, I know many of you fellow fans are jonesing for a little Office fodder right about now, so I thought I’d share.

And since you asked (What? You didn’t?), I’m definitely rooting for Rashida/Karen to join in on the spinoff fun. And if we can have Phyllis drop by for a makeover from time to time? Well, it’d be so good it almost hurts.

(That’s what she said.)

What say you?

Katie Price Thinks Smaller Is Better

Katie Price Thinks Smaller Is Better

After going through four breast enlargement procedures in the past, Katie Price was back on the surgery table for a fifth go at it. This time, however, the model formerly known as Jordan was looking to downsize.

Price was spotted by paparazzi on Saturday, arriving back in London after a two-week stay in the United States for a makeover that included a significant boob reduction.

According to press reports, “Her transformation was so great she was hardly recognizable from her old days. Gone are the peroxide blond hair, the orange fake tan and those famous 32FF boobs, which went under the knife in Los Angeles. She covered her new boobs up with a long grey shawl when she landed in Britain, but it’s thought she’s had them reduced to a 32D.”

Of the decision to lessen up her load, Katie told: “My breasts have gone saggy after three children, so I wanted to perk them up and make them smaller.”

Meanwhile, Price’s rep has denied claims that more surgical work was done than just the breast reduction, saying: “Katie’s glad to be home after the op. Everything went well and she’s looking forward to Christmas with her family.”
