Kate Beckinsale: Doing Well After Hospital Visit

Kate Beckinsale: Doing Well After Hospital Visit

Coming off of a recent trip to a Memphis-area hospital, actress Kate Beckinsale looked full of good spirit as she ventured about Beverly Hills on Tuesday (November 20).

According to recent reports from Access Hollywood, the Underworld actress went to the hospital after “experiencing numbness in her left arm and left leg.”

Admitted and released a short time thereafter, a source told press that “doctors treated Beckinsale and determined the problem was due to exhaustion and that she hadn’t been compliant with her regular medication.”

Beckinsale has been stationed in Memphis to film the drama “Nothing But The Truth,” alongside Matt Dillon and David Schwimmer, but has made her way home to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with her family.

Cameron Diaz Charms ShoWest Convention

Cameron Diaz Charms ShoWest Convention

When you think of sexy leading ladies, Cameron Diaz is always at the top of the list.  And last night the “Shrek” actress worked her magic on the spectators at the ShoWest convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Diaz was in town to promote her new flick “What Happens in Vegas…” to the National Association of Theatre Owners, although she got a little more love than she bargained for.

Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman Tom Rothman seized the moment by grabbing Cameron and kissing her on the cheek during a shared moment onstage- something she didn’t look too thrilled about.

And speaking of kisses, one of Cam’s past flames has made an appearance in her life again.  On Monday, the “Sweetest Thing” actress was spotted talking with Matt Dillon at the Chateau Marmont.  We’ll let you know if it ends up being more than a friendly encounter.

Trivia: Harvey Weinstein Had Plans To Open a Chain of Jack Rabbit Slims

Trivia: Harvey Weinstein had Plans To Open a Chain of Jack Rabbit Slims

Pulp Fiction was featured at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills as part of the Academy’s newest 17-week “Great To Be Nominated” series.

It was revealed that Miramax kingpin Harvey Weinstein had plans to open a chain of Jack Rabbit Slims restaurants after Pulp Fiction became such a huge success. Apparently Quentin Tarantino had to talk him down, explaining that the restaurant in the film was actually goofing on the trend of popular theme restaurants of the early ’90s. But Tarantino acknowledged that the five-dollar milkshake is no longer just a joke, but a reality in most diners and restaurants.

The Jack Rabbit Slim sequence in Pulp fiction was actually filmed at the Famous Mel’s. In the film, Mia (Uma Thurman) takes Vincent (Travolta) to the restaurant. The waitstaff and entertainers resemble 1950s personalities such as Ed Sullivan (the maître d’), Buddy Holly and Marilyn Monroe (both of whom are waiters). Besides regular seating, patrons can also sit in a replica of a 1950s automobile, which has a table and seating inside the car. The food is also named after personalities from the 1950s or earlier - when asked what kind of milkshake Mia would like, she’s offered a choice of Amos and Andy (Chocolate) or Martin and Lewis (Vanilla). Vincent orders the Douglas Sirk Steak, while Mia has the Durward Kirby Burger. Both are given the option of having their meat “burnt to a crisp” or “bloody as hell”. A few restaurants, bars and bands across the world have since adopted the name.

Movie Trailer: Francis Ford Coppola’s Youth Without Youth

Youth Without YouthThe movie trailer for Youth Without Youth, Francis Ford Coppola’s first new film in 10-years, is now online. Coppola adapted, produced and directed the movie based on the 1976 novel by Romanian-born religious historian Mircea Eliade.

The short teaser trailer looks interesting, but doesn’t really show much, or at least it doesn’t show much in terms of narrative story. And that worries me quite a bit since I have heard that it is somewhat personal and experimental. It has been widely reported that the film was inspired by his daughter Sofia, and shot with a low $5 million budget film last winter in Romania using a Sony High Definition camera. The movie has been screened in front of friends and fellow directors including: Martin Scorsese, Dennis Hopper, Andy Garcia, Matt Dillon, Danny DeVito, Rhea Perlman, Spike Jonze, John Singleton, the Hughes Brothers, Alfonso Cuarón, and Gus Van Sant attended the screening. It has been said that overall the film is “Good, but very difficult.”

The movie stars Tim Roth as a 70-year-old who is struck by lightning and suddenly gets younger and more brilliant. The film co-stars Alexandra Maria Lara and Bruno Ganz, and Matt Damon makes a cameo appearance. Coppola’s last time behind the camera was 1997’s Rainmaker which also starred Damon.
