More Transformers 2 Plot Details Emerge

Michael Bay revealed a couple new details in an interview with the New Jersey Times. The story picks up with Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox) visiting Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) at a fictional East Coast school with an Ivy League feel. Apparently Banes didn’t have enough money to go to college and was left behind in Los Angeles. And while the first movie was about a boy and his first car, Bay says that the new movie “is all about Sam growing up and going to college … a teenager growing into a man.” Rainn Wilson was spotted on set the same day that they were shooting a scene where Sam is late to his Astronomy 101 class, which might mean that Wilson is Witwicky’s Astronomy professor. Josh Duhamel who played Captain Lennox in the original film tells Empire Magazine that the biggest change in the sequel is “who [Lennox is] working with “, emphasizing the “Who he’s working with.” This seems to confirm speculation that the Autobots might have to form an alliance with the Decepticons to fight something bigger. Could those rumors about Fallen actually be true?

And for those wondering, the cool “Revenge is Coming… 2009” set-up pictured at the top of this post (thanks to KD), was on display at The My Little Pony Fair 2008 (who knew?), which took place at Hasbro, Inc.’s Providence, Rhode Island headquarters last week.

Kooky New Spoilers For Transformers 2 Hit Net?

Here’s the non-spoiler part of this post: Shia LaBeouf will ride a motorcycle in Transformers 2. Wow. And it might, just might!, be a robot in disguise., we’ll dive into the latest sp-sp-spoiler rumors for Transformers 2 courtesy of the Movie Blog. These spoilers center on odd things happening to LaBeouf’s character in the film, rather than the oddity that is Beetlejuice. Against better judgment, we’ll rank the following spoilers a 7/10 on the Slashfilm Privy Meter. If you’re already shellshocked by the amount of T2 info rolling in—aww—realize that you’re not alone. Feel free to express your exhaustion in the comments. From here on, venture down buzzkill beach at your own discretion…oh, and we’ve also included a pic of LaBeouf/Fox doing something on said motorcycle.

According to a tipster at MB, Shia’s character, Sam, possibly falls under the influence of a splinter he retained from the AllSpark that was destroyed in the original flick. The side-effects apparently hit him while he’s in a college astronomy class taught by Raiin Wilson’s professor.

“On the first day of class, Sam goes crazy just before getting to class for some reason. It seems there is some object that he was exposed to that affected him, our guess is the splinter from the cube. …[In class] Sam read [an entire text book] in five seconds by just flipping through it, then starts telling Wilson’s character about what parts of his book are wrong. He also starts talking about how Einstein was wrong. Sam gets up from his seat and goes up to the chalk board and starts writing a lot of weird symbols on the chalk board (probably Cryptonian).”

It’s said that the next time Sam goes to class, he’s still a little weird. He tells Megan Fox’s character, who’s apparently in possession of the splinter (or whatever it is), not to touch it for fear that it will do the same thing to her. If true, kind of kooky, kind of cool, eh? Somebody should make a YouTube montage of characters in movies who read entire books in just seconds.

Movie Chronicles got ahold of the following image below showing Shia and Fox sharing a “little spark” of their own. Heh heh zzz. Note the red motorcycle and Fox’s lusty arch.

Megan Fox says Transformers 2 “Ten Times as Big”; Julie White Returns

Transformers Megan Fox

A couple new Transformers 2 updates. First up, Megan Fox tells MTV that Transformers sequel will be ten times bigger and talks about the rewrites created by the writers strike.

“As big as the first movie was, this is 10 times as big, 10 times as many set pieces, explosions, and acrobatic stunts,” Fox told MTV. “You know, we’ve been having script meetings, and we’ve been reworking the script, because they wrote it fast because of the writer’s strike. And, we’ve just been going through and trying to do some character stuff for Shia and myself in the middle of this crazy world that they’re in. I can tell you that we’re on locations in some really exotic places. It’s just going to be a badass movie. It’s just going to be a popcorn-visual-spectacle, summer film.”

I’m sure the 10 times as big is only slightly exaggerated. The first film cost an estimated $150 million, and if Fox’s claims were literally true, the sequel would cost $1.5 billion. But speaking of exotic locations… [location spoiler warning]

The Philadelphia City Hall has been transformed into a Cafe in France. The scene apparently involves Sam’s parents Ron and Judy Witwicky (played by Kevin Dunn and Julie White) as they are on vacation in Paris. This is actually the first confirmation of White’s return. The Philly Chit Chat Blog was able to get a few shots of the set. The signs read “Ecole Militaire”, which is a military school. It now hosts the Collège Interarmées de Defense (Joint Defense College) and the Institut des Hautes Études de la Défense Nationale (IHEDN, Institute of High Studies of National Defense).
