Spector Suffers From Supreme Intervention
Phil Spector’s defense team heard a “no” from on high today.
The California Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to review an appellate court’s refusal to order a hearing on the defense’s wish to have the judge who presided over Spector’s first murder trial removed from the case.
Spector attorney Doron Weinberg has argued that jury instructions given by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler, who is also set to helm the music producer’s retrial in September, the first time around indicated a bias against the defendant.
A judge ruled that the defense had showed no basis for Fidler’s removal and failed to file its motion in a timely manner. The 2nd District Court of Appeal subsequently refused in April to order a hearing on the matter.
Spector’s second trial for the shooting death of Lana Clarkson is scheduled to begin Sept. 29.
Spector Charges a Lawsuit to His Room

A Los Angeles hotel has sued the infamous music producer, his wife Rachelle and his agent Jennifer Lee Barringer for supposedly failing to pay their bill after reserving a block of rooms for Spector’s legal team and defense witnesses during his first trial last year in the killing of Lana Clarkson.
Per the complaint filed in L.A. Superior Court, Spector’s camp racked up more than $104,000 in charges over seven months at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites and, when the hotel demanded that Spector pay up, the Wall of Sound creator said he wouldprovided he got a “drastic discount of the outstanding balance.”
A rep for Spector hasn’t yet responded to a request for comment. The Westin is alleging breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation and is looking to collect the entire bill, with interest.
Spector, whose first go-round ended in a mistrial, is scheduled to be tried again Sept. 29.

Ever since Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil tied the knot, there’s been constant drama surrounding their marriage. And the latest is that Blake is furious that Amy spent Saturday night partying with another man.
Reportedly the “Rehab” singer elected to party the night away with music producer Mark Ronson, who she has worked with in the past. The story goes, they met up Saturday evening and by the time 5:30am Sunday morning rolled around, they checked into a hotel.
But a Winehouse source told press, “Mark was in London this week so Amy jumped at the chance to work with him again. The only sweet music they were making was in the recording studio.”
Sunday afternoon, Amy was spotted heading over to pal Kelly Osbourne’s pad for lunch, wearing a grey tracksuit, blindly white Reeboks, and a bunch of gaudy gold jewelry. Hey, at least it wasn’t her red bra/jersey shirt combo! Following lunch, Amy departed to run errands all over London, ending up with yet another gentleman friend.
And the troubled singer recently told press she’s trying to balance out her lifestyle. “I go to the gym, I drink a lot of water and I eat right. I’m of the school of thought where if you can’t sort something out for yourself then no one can help you. I don’t know whether that’s because I’m a strong woman. If I go to the gym and I have a drink, I’m lovely to be around and really sweet. But if I haven’t been training or if there’s something bothering me, I’m a terrible drunk.”
