Katherine Heigl’s Hair Gets Shorter

Katherine Heigl’s Hair Gets Shorter

There’s a well-known myth that when women get married, they tend to chop off their hair.  And Katherine Heigl is certainly helping to prove it true.

The “27 Dresses” actress was spotted out with her mother yesterday sporting a new shorter, blonder, curlier hairstyle.  The new ‘do looked great with her belted mini-dress/stocking/boots ensemble.

And while her look continues to evolve, so may her career.  According to rumors, Katherine may be pushing for her “Grey’s Anatomy” character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, to be eliminated from the show.

A source told press, “Katherine has even suggested to ‘Grey’s’ producers that they kill her character Dr. Izzie Stevens in dramatic fashion so her exit could bring in huge ratings.” It seems that with the success of her last few movies, Heigl would rather focus on her film career.

Unfortunately, unless ABC releases her from her contract, Katherine will be obligated to another two years on the show.

MythBusters fans want to bust the E-reader

Something tells me this isn’t going to happen, but you can be sure plenty of us would tune in if it did.

Over on Discovery’s MythBusters forums — where fans regularly congregate to discuss previous episodes, disagree with Adam and Jamie’s conclusions and offer suggestions for future myth-busting — someone has made the suggestion that the MB’s take on the task of not only obtaining but also fully testing the capabilities of one of Scientology’s most exclusive devices: the E-meter.

If you go by what Wikipedia tells you, the E-meter measures the “’mental mass and energy’ of the subject’s mind.” What the Church of Scientology does with the information from the reading, you can either go by what’s released already in the wilds of the interweb or, if you’re a Scientologist yourself, you probably already know.

While a bunch of folks on the forum and over on Digg think this is a great idea for MythBusters, I can’t quite figure out what the heck they’d do to disprove anything it supposedly does, no matter how ludicrous it seems to some. Is there really some way to concretely disprove or even prove something like this?

BSG star lands on Joss Whedon’s new show

battlestar galactica; tahmoh penikettWith the final season of Battlestar Galactica starting up next week (sniff), the actors on that fabulous show need some new work. At least one of them has a pretty sweet gig set up: Tahmoh Penikett (aka ’Helo’) has been cast on Joss Whedon’s new pilot.

The pilot is called Dollhouse, and it already stars Eliza Dushku. The series is about four “dolls” who receive different personalities for each assignment (FBI, CIA? I dunno). Dushku’s character begins to override the microchips that supposedly wipe out her memory and figures out who she is. Penikett will play an FBI agent who is obsessed with the Dollhouse myth and set on finding out the truth.

Other casting includes Fran Kranz (Welcome to the Captain), Australian actress Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj (don’t ask me how to pronounce that one). There are four more main parts that still need to be cast and I’m wondering if it’s possible to find more actors with strange and unpronounceable names.

If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard about Dollhouse, it’s probably because the news about it got lost in all the writer’s strike mayhem. Just before the strike, 20th Century Fox Television gave a 7-episode order for Dollhouse. Wahoo!

1408 Photos and Movie Trailer

1408 LogoToday we bring you ten new photos from 1408, the latest big screen adaptation of a Stephen King story. There are a lot of Stephen King movie adaptations that aren’t very good, and this looks to be one of them.

1408 follows Mike Enslin, an author of two hit books focusing on supernatural phenomena. As research for his latest book, Enslin is determined to check out the notorious room 1408 in a New York City hotel by personally staying as a guest in the fabled room. With the intention that 1408 is just a myth perpetuated by stories and rumor that Enslin has collected for his past works. However, hotel manager Mr. Olin has strong objections to Enslin’s stay and only warns him of possible danger to come. But Enslin is determined to go through and convinced that the horrific past of 1408 is just mere coincidence and a myth. But what Mike Enslin is about to experience is no myth, as 1408 truly is a room where the guests don’t check out by noon. Directed by Mikael Håfström (Derailed, Evil), the film stars John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson, and Mary McCormack.

We have also included the theatrical trailer, after the jump. As always, click on the images to enlarge the photos.
