Hannah Montana Scoops Up Swift

Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus

Hannah Montana is getting a little bit (more) country.

Nashville ingénue Taylor Swift has filmed a cameo role in Hannah Montana: The Movie.

The 18-year-old Swift filmed the brief part a week ago, playing herself and singing one of her own songs in the background of a scene.

She joins fellow country-fried singers Rascal Flatts and American Idol alum Bucky Covington, who also appear in the flick. Not so coincidentally, all three acts are signed to Disney’s Lyric Street Records.

Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus star in the Hannah Montana movie, due out in 2009. It’s currently filming in and around Nashville.

Nicole and Keith: Ready For Baby Urban

Nicole and Keith: Ready For Baby Urban

In the final stages of her pregnancy, Nicole Kidman and her country star husband, Keith Urban, have been spotted all over Nashville after arriving to Tennessee ahead of this past weekend’s CMA Music Festival.

On Sunday, the lovey-dovey couple were out grabbing their morning coffee at the local Starbucks before heading to the gym for a workout session.

Meanwhile, following his CMA Festival performance on Saturday night, Urban took a moment to talk with press about Nicole and their baby-on-the-way.

Keith told: “I love having her(Nicole) with me when I tour, but at the same time, it’s work. You don’t want to ask too much of your family.”

Asked if their baby, due this July, will also find a seat on the tour bus, Urban replied: “We’ll just have to see what works for us.”

Britney’s Upbringing Going on the Record

Britney Spears, Lynne Spears

Now that she can end her story on a high note, Lynne Spears is ready to sing.

Britney and Jamie Lynn’s mother is eyeing a September release for her upcoming memoir about raising a family in the glare of what turned into an increasingly harsh spotlight, according to Nashville-based publisher Thomas Nelson, which deals largely in inspirational books and Bibles.

Thomas Nelson announced the project in October (to originally be due on Mother’s Day), but the venture was “postponed” a couple months later after Spears’ then-16-year-old daughter revealed she was 12 months pregnant.

Not to mention 26-year-old Britney was gearing up for her first middle-of-the-night trip to the hospital.

“When Jamie Lynn got pregnant, it was put on hold,”a rep for the publisher told People. “Lynne never stopped working on it, because she wants to express her love for her children and tell their stories through a mother’s eyes.”

But while the publisher isn’t offering any teasers as to how many details Spears is planning to divulge, at least Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World can end on a happier note.

Jessica Simpson: Country Music’s Next Big Hit?

Jessica Simpson: Country Music’s Next Big Hit?

A few weeks ago she began her transition from the pop music genre to the world of country music.  And last night Jessica Simpson took another big step.

The “With You” songstress made a surprise appearance at the CMA Music Festival, showing up at the VAULT Concert Series at Nashville’s LP Field.

And she looked confident as she addressed the crowd, sporting a conservative-yet-feminine dark green printed dress with an array of bangle bracelets and her wavy blonde hairdo.

Last night’s gig was the first of many public appearances Jess will be doing over the summer in support of her new career direction.  She’s scheduled to perform her single “Come on Over” on The View Wednesday, June 25th, and she’s doing a full concert August 15th at the Monterey County Fair.
