Natalie Portman and Charlie Visit CNN Studios

Natalie Portman and Charlie Visit CNN Studios

Though her dog wouldn’t serve much of a purpose in the realm of protection, Natalie Portman was spotted out with her pint-sized pup Charlie in Hollywood yesterday (June 25).

The “Other Boleyn Girl” actress was leaving the CNN building when the paparazzi caught up with her.  And she was looking cute and girlie in a screenprinted scoopneck top with a pair of dark violet trousers and flip flops.

Following her gig at CNN, reports tell that Miss Portman was joined by her folk-rock boyfriend Devendra Banhart at the Hotel Café in Hollywood for a concert.

Natalie’s friend Lukas Haas (an actor-turned-singer) performed onstage while she sang along, and after the show, the “Garden State” cutie offered congratulations on his set.

Natalie Portman: Puppy Love at LAX

Natalie Portman: Puppy Love at LAX

You know it’s true love when he’ll even come inside and pick you up at the airport!  And Natalie Portman got a dose of chivalry yesterday as she arrived at LAX International Airport.

The “Other Boleyn Girl” actress arrived at the terminal along with her pint-sized pup and was swiftly met by boyfriend Devendra Banhart, doing his boyfriend duty by giving her a ride home.

And Portman looked a bit tired as she greeted him, sporting a black tank top and stonewashed jeans with a pair of low-profile flip-flops and a hippie-style beaded necklace.

Rocking an “Ethiopian Alphabet” t-shirt, jeans, and strappy sandals, Banhart escorted his lady to the car, kissing her prior to their departure.

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller: On the Edge

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller: On the Edge

They’re the hottest duo since Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman starred in “The Other Boleyn Girl” together.  And Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller were all smiles at their photocall for “The Edge of Love.”

The British beauties were spotted hamming it up for the cameras in Edinburgh, Scotland earlier today as they began the promotional tour for their upcoming film.

Sienna’s role was originally supposed to go to Lindsay Lohan, but when she fell through producers immediately called on the “Factory Girl” starlet to step in.

She told press, “I had two weeks to prepare before we started filming.  Normally I would spend a lot more time doing research and getting completely paranoid but I just had to jump, which suited the part because she was quite abandoned.”

And Knightley confessed that she loved the script to the point that it stuck with her after reading it just once.  “When you’re an actress, the lines disappear from your head as soon as you pick up a new script.  But Dylan Thomas’s words never disappeared from my head. The love I had for him, I retained.”

The Happening: What Did You Think?

the happening - what did you think?

Were you one of the people who went to see M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening instead of The Incredible Hulk? I’d be interested to hear what you thought. Ebert may have given the movie three stars, but most American movie critics are throwing Rotten Tomatoes at the screen (only 20% fresh on the Tomatometer). But forget about the critics, I want to know what you guys thought. Please comment below!

My quick thoughts: Shyamalan needs to find a group of creative people to collaborate and bounce ideas off of. Not only is the plot ridiculous, but the characters are unbelievable and speak like no living human being I’ve ever seen or experienced. Shyamalan has directed Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel, both considered talented actors, into one-dimensional b-movie level performances (for example, think back to Natalie Portman’s performance in the George Lucas-directed Star Wars prequels). Despite promises of M Night’s first R-Rated horror film, Shyamalan keeps most of the violence off screen, and never suceeds at being horrifying even on a psychological level. The resulting film is more unintentionally funny than scary or thrilling. Wahlberg runs away from the wind (…as if you could actually run away from the wind?) and pleads to plastic plants. And the ending is the textbook definition of anti-climatic.

So, what did you think about M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening?
