Rachel Bilson Gets Her Shopping Fix
Rachel Bilson Gets Her Shopping Fix
Getting a much-needed shopping fix, Rachel Bilson was spotted in the Meatpacking district of New York City on Tuesday morning (June 17).
Accompanied by a guy pal, the former OC babe combed the racks at shops including Alexander McQueen, Butik and Jeffery before taking a break for a bite to eat.
In related news, Rachel’s box office hit “Jumper” just came out on DVD a week ago - and she’s been busily interviewing as part of her press duties.
Recently chatting with the AP, Rachel revealed that she felt a little uncomfortable filming love scenes with co-star-turned-boyfriend Hayden Christensen in the sci-fi thriller.
“It’s always awkward and hard to film love scenes, it’s so unnatural, and it’s mechanical,” she said. “Actually Doug [Liman, director] made it very free and we went with it - and a shot of alcohol always helps ease the nerves.”
Despite the uneasiness, Rachel added that she had a wonderful time making the film with Hayden, Jamie Bell and Samuel L Jackson.
“It was so fantastic, the whole experience,” she said. “We all became close friends, but I also respect all of them as actors so I got to learn things from them. I was very fortunate.”
Hats Off to the Winner of Top Chef
Who sizzled and who sank on the season finale of Top Chef? Find out after the jump…
Chef whites may not do much for a woman’s figure, but that doesn’t mean she won’t still be the hottest thing in the kitchen.
Stephanie Izard was named the winner of the fourth season of Top Chef Wednesday, becoming the first female contestant to chop, stir and sauté her way to the top of the food chain after the judges figured a lackluster final dessert shouldn’t derail her chances after an impressive season-long performance, which included four Elimination Challenge wins.
“I won Top Chefholy s–t!” the 31-year-old Chicago resident said. “This is the biggest thing that has happened in my life. My life’s about to change, it’s going to be absolutely insane.”
“I’m so glad I was able to pull through and, after all this hard workand maybe doubting a little bitthis is a reaffirmation that this is what I’m supposed to do with my life,” Izard added, acknowledging how many times she appeared close to letting her nerves get the best of her.
For her efforts, which included a landmark lamb with olives, braised pistachios and berries (that the judges loved, mind you), Izard won $100,000, a showcase at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen and a spread in Food & Wine magazine.
Not to mention bragging rights over some pretty stiff competition.
Heading into the finale, right alongside Izard with four challenge wins was gadget lover Richard Blais, the most experimentaland emotionalchef of the bunch. He ultimately copped to “overthinking” his final meal, which included “What Came First?”a mélange of guinea hen, egg and foie grasand his trademark banana “scallops.”
“Losing at the last second, it sucks,” the baby-faced gourmet, who runs a restaurant in Atlanta, said, blinking back tears. But on the bright side, “it lets me kind of refocus, keep doing what I like to do. The future’s bright, for sure.”
Also not making it all the way was the stone-faced Lisa Fernandes, who squeaked into the finale after being on the chopping block six times this season, including last week, when she got the go-ahead because Antonia Lofaso undercooked her peasa decision that, according to head judge Tom Colicchio’s blog, “brought a wellspring of vitriol from the theorists on our message boards.”
Fernandes at least saved her best for last, serving up a mostly delightful (killer Thai soup, delicious rice pudding) Asian-influenced feast for her final challenge.
The judges were so pleased by the New Yorker’s effort, we thought for a moment that Lisa was about to pull the reality-TV upset of the season.
But ultimately, Fernandes, who never met an opportunity to use the F-word she didn’t like, sauced her Wagyu beef with a too-sweet glaze and didn’t have the history to fall back on when it came time to pick a winner.
“I’m thinking, there’s a really good shot that I can take this and then [host Padma Lakshmi] said Stephanie’s name, and I was like, ’F–k!’” Fernandes said, going out true to form.
Big Weekend For Rihanna
Big Weekend For Rihanna
With the Grammys coming up tomorrow, Los Angeles is brimming over with actors and rock stars arriving to get in on the action. And Grammy hopeful Rihanna isn’t one to be left out.
The “Umbrella” singer was spotted at LAX airport yesterday looking cool and casual in a grey shirt and black pants, toting around her BlackBerry Curve.
She showed no signs of nerves, although you gotta think that she’s a little preoccupied with taking home a trophy at tomorrow night’s awards.
And although Amy Winehouse will be staying in London, Rihanna still has some fierce competition with the British songstress in the ‘Song of the Year’ category.
We Almost Had Your Back, Mischa
We wanted to go on record and say that Mischa Barton is beautiful.
We wanted to denounce those recent nasty barbs about her cellulite as getting on our non-size-0 nerves.
We had planned to stand on the rooftops and scream, “Mischa Barton is not out of shape! She is a beautiful woman, and even beautiful women have a little cellulite! Back off!”But then she went out in public Wednesday night in NYC dressed like Punky Brewster dipped in Mary-Kate Olsen sauce, and we found ourselves having to take it all back.
Damn you, Mischa!
