Lost season four might be one hour longer
There could be an upside to the Lost hiatus after all. On Wednesday afternoon, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reported that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are in “advanced talks” with ABC about adding another hour-long chapter to Lost Season Four. The arrangement is by no means set in stone, but it is encouraging news.
No word yet on how this extra hour might be added to the season’s remaining five episodes. We could get another episode, or the finale could be an additional hour. Would a three-hour season finale be too much, even for Lost viewers? How will this affect the scheduling of the two-hour season finale? Currently, the season’s last episode is split into two installments that will air one week apart. Will there be room for this bonus episode now that Lost is sharing Thursday nights with Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty?
I’m interpreting this rumor as a good sign. Lindelof and Cuse wouldn’t ask for another hour unless there was a significant part of the season’s story left to tell. They already had to compress a sixteen-episode season into thirteen episodes; perhaps that wasn’t enough to do the season justice. So much has been happening this season: the return of the Michael, the arrival of the Freighties, and all of the flash-forward storytelling. I doubt that this extra episode would contain any filler. I just hope that the new chapter flows well with the other storylines and doesn’t feel tacked on.
What’s your take on this rumor? Would you welcome a fourteenth episode?
Lost: The video game on shelves by the end of the month
As first reported in May 2006, Lost is getting the video game treatment. The game, titled “Lost: Via Domus” and produced by Montreal-based Ubisoft, will not be a reproduction of the survivors’ adventures. Instead, the game will add a new chapter to the series.
Nicolas Eypert, who was part of the creation team of the game, revealed in interview with a French-Canadian newspaper that the game will be a complementary experience that adds to the episodes, blogs, forums, and magazines about the series. The storyline crosses paths with the action that occurred during the first two seasons of the series.
While at the San Diego Comic-Con International last summer, Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse said that “The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost video game.”
In a press release sent last July, Ubisoft revealed that players will play a never-seen-on-the-show passenger of Oceanic Flight 815 who survived the crash. Players will have to face the same demons that hit the characters on the show (a dark past, redemption, being stuck on an island, etc.) while trying to solve puzzles, face the smoke monster, fight enemies, make alliances, and much more in order to stay alive. The game features the main characters and locations.
The game will be available on the following platforms: Xbox 360™, PLAYSTATION®3 and PC-CD Rom. The content will be the same for all three platforms but will feature different exclusive content as the player progresses in the game.
According to Eypert, the game will hit stores around the world on February 28; however, the game’s official pre-order pages say it will be available on the 26th. You can learn more about the game by visiting the game’s ABC website or the official website.
The Hobbit: Peter Jackson Returns

The rumors are true: Lord of the Rings trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson and New Line have come to an agreement, and will band together to bring The Hobbit to the big screen, split over two live-action films. MGM and New Line will co-finance the project, with New Line handing North American distribution, and MGM handing the International. It is currently believed that Peter Jackson will not be available to direct either of the two films, as his schedule is full. The announcement says that Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will serve as Executive Producers of two films, which will be shot simultaneously.
Spider-Man director Sam Raimi has been anxiously watching this project, and his future schedule is pretty much clear. Raimi has said that he wouldn’t be involved unless Jackson produced, and it looks like the perfect situation is now in place. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the Raimi announcement before Christmas.
Said Peter Jackson, “I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to put our differences behind us, so that we may begin a new chapter with our old friends at New Line. ‘The Lord of the Rings’ is a legacy we proudly share with Bob and Michael, and together, we share that legacy with millions of loyal fans all over the world. We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth. I also want to thank Harry Sloan and our new friends at MGM for helping us find the common ground necessary to continue that journey.”
Principal photography is tentatively set for a 2009 start with a production budget of $150 million per film. They are currently eyeing release dates in 2010 and 2011. It has been previously rumored that the film would be shot and released in 3D, although Jackson and New Line are keeping mum at this time.
Alessandra Ambrosio: Taking Pregnancy in Stride
Alessandra Ambrosio: Taking Pregnancy in Stride
She’s one of the most beautiful Victoria’s Secret models ever, and Alessandra Ambrosio keeps getting hotter.
Last night, she was spotted out in Los Angeles, California along with her boyfriend as they exited Foxtail Restaurant/Nightclub. And Miss Ambrosio was dressed to insure that all eyes were on her.
She wore a belted white and pink mini dress along with a black leather jacket and a pair of black high heels as she made her way past the paparazzi.
And now that she’s pregnant, Alessandra says she is taking a break from her modeling career to concentrate on the next season of her life; motherhood.
“For the time being, I’m ready to start to enjoy and dedicate myself to this new chapter in my life and I hope to be working soon, enriched by our love for our new baby.”
