Burning Q’s: Reality Castoffs & Mischa’s Widdle
We all want a happy ending with TV dating shows like The Bachelorette. But if it doesn’t work out with the chosen one, can the star of these shows go back and date someone else from the show?Carrin
Well, now you’ve ticked off a former Bachelor. “Don’t call them castoffs,” he tells this B!tch, requesting we not name him. “They were really nice ladies.” And, oh: Nothing in his contract prohibited him from dating a castoff.
Other reality shows do limit a star’s dating for a short time after filming wraps, says Sheila Conlin, who cast the upcoming Secret Millionaire show for Fox. But either way, the star is free to date anyone, even a castoff, once the contract is up.
Got more Burning Q’s? Oh, you do. Let’s quench those after the jump…
Any idea as to when the new seasons of Big Love and Entourage are coming back? Even a ballpark month or year would be appreciated. Thanks!Michelle
Entourage: September. Big Love: January.
I was wondering why most of the pictures taken of the young celebrities seem to always have their legs crossed like they have to pee. Is this the “new” model pose, or do they have to pee? What gives?Beckie, Cincinnati
You speak of the “widdle,” a pose championed by everyone from Mischa to Paris to Nicole. As I have said previously, the answer lies in science.
In their meager little minds, female stars can never be petite or skinny enough. Ever. But they can only starve themselves for so long before their internal organs start turning on each other in an acid-soaked feeding frenzy.
So when they have fasted as much as they canor they realize that their Ketel One-and-air diets are no longer workingthey turn desperately to strategic, shrinking poses.
The most popular of these is the widdle, which may include either crossed legs, knock-knees, pigeon toes, or some combination thereof. The pose also is thought to help mask large feet; Paris Hilton is known to have a pair of size 11 orcas to fill.
Oh, and be my fan on Facebook, ’kay?
Project Runway starts July 16
Unless that little ad I saw during Top Chef was a total lie, Project Runway’s fifth season will be starting Wednesday, July 16 at 9:00 (new time). I definitely was not expecting the new round to start this early. It feels like the painful fourth season ended only three months ago because, umm, it did. It worries me when competition shows seem a little too eager to pick the next hottest thing. Let the old hottest thing bask in the limelight for a little while! I really hope PR doesn’t turn into a non-stop barrage of half-talent the way that American Idol has, popping out new seasons like they’re Danielle Steel novels and not allowing the talent pool to grow.
Also, remember that this is the last season that PR will be on Bravo. All future seasons will be on Lifetime. Ironically enough, the fact that it’s on a women’s TV network makes me want to watch the show less.
I’ve already expressed my worry about the state of this show, so I’ll leave that be. My heart can handle only so much bitterness at a time. The show hasn’t inspired very much positive excitement in me since Season Two, and this upcoming season is going to be the deciding factor in whether or not I have the strength to follow the move to Lifetime. Here’s to hoping there’s something worth watching.
NBC announces webisodes of Office and Heroes
NBC announced today that webisodes for The Office and Heroes would officially premiere on NBC.com starting in July. Seems like all that chit-chat that led to the WGA Strike cease-fire is finally showing some results.
The Office webisodes will premiere first in early July and will focus on Kevin’s gambling issues and how he plans to pay for his debts. We got a taste of his competitive side in this past week’s episode when he started betting on holes at the golf course. The summer series will also feature Stanley, Oscar, and Darryl. This is the second series of webisodes for The Office, which premiered The Accountants back in the summer of 2006.
The Heroes webisodes will air in mid-July with the premiere “Manhunt.” NBC was scant on details for this, except to say that a new villain will be introduced and that the web series will lead right up to the third season premiere. No word on whether or not any stars from the TV show will make guest appearances.
So what does everyone think of this? Honestly, I’m not too psyched. While I love both of these shows, webisodes tend to be of much lesser quality than the series themselves. Plus, they never tie directly into a show or have serious implications because, believe it or not, some folks still don’t have Internet access. To chastise those fans is something that networks don’t seem ready to do… yet. I’m sure these can be skipped over without having to play much (if any) catch-up when the new seasons premiere in the fall.
FX to debut Shield’s final season in September
Well it’s about time. According to Ausiello over at TV Guide, FX plans to air the final 13 episodes of The Shield starting in September. Originally set to air starting in April, the final season was completed before the writer’s strike hit. However, it still affected the show.
The strike cut short the most recent seasons of Nip/Tuck, Dirt, and The Riches. Nip/Tuck’s finale aired a few weeks ago, Dirt just premiered this past Sunday, and The Riches returns next Tuesday, March 18th. Because of the truncated seasons for Dirt and The Riches (each finished only seven installments), they moved up in the schedule to March/April, displacing The Shield.
Additionally, FX’s standard of airing Rescue Me during the summer was also put on hold. Ausiello reports that its 22 episode fifth season won’t return until March of 2009. That’s probably a good thing since it would have been competing with The Olympics — another reason The Shield is being held until September. The TV Guide gossip guru went on to say that the first of Damages’ two new seasons would also return in early ’09.
