Keanu Reeves Sued for Uncool Car Maneuver

Keanu Reeves fights, and sometimes talks, in slow motion. It doesn't look as if he drives that way, though.

A paparazzo who was reportedly knocked down by The Matrix star's Porsche in March, presumably while he was trying to get a shot of the actor as he pulled out of a parking space, sued Reeves for negligence on Monday.

Brazilian shutterbug Alison Silva alleges in his lawsuit that Reeves' actions in the parking lot of a Rancho Palos Verdes, California, clinic on Mar. 19 caused "serious injuries to body and severe shock and injuries to the nervous system and person, all of which injuries have caused and continue to cause Plaintiff great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering." (View the full lawsuit.)

Silva also states that his vehicle was damaged, although police confirmed at the time that it was the photographer himself who was "grazed" by Reeve's car, a 1996 Porsche 911. There was no mention of another vehicle.

According to authorities, paramedics treated Silva at the scene and then transported him by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Reeves emerged from the run-in unscathed and no criminal charges were filed.

Because of said injuries, Silva claims, his earning capacity has been severely limited. He's seeking undisclosed damages.

Reeves, who in the driving world is mostly known for his solo motorcycle mishaps (he ruptured his spleen and fractured a few ribs in 1988), was last on the big screen in The Lake House, one of the sentimental projects he likes to sprinkle in among the sci-fi flicks.

Next up he plays a widowed LAPD detective who has to face off against the entire department when he's implicated in the death of a fellow officer in The Night Watchman, and he's attached to star in a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, which already has a Dec. 12, 2008, release date.

Reeves will play the even-tempered, poker-faced alien visitor.

Street Kings Movie Trailer

Street Kings

The movie trailer for Fox Searchlight’s Keanu Reeves crime-thriller Street Kings (formerly titled The Night Watchman) has hit the web.

Street Kings stars Keanu Reeves as Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD cop who finds life difficult to navigate after the death of his wife.  When evidence implicates him in the execution of a fellow officer, he is forced to go up against the cop culture he’s been a part of his entire career, ultimately leading him to question the loyalties of everyone around him. The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Naomie Harris, Jay Mohr, John Corbett, Cedric the Entertainer, Amaury Nolasco, Terry Crews, Common and The Game. Watch the trailer below.

Definitely not Training Day, or even Harsh Times, Street Kings looks like a typical crime thriller, with the same overused themes we’ve come to expect from David Ayer.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo! Movies. Street Kings hits theaters on April 11th 2008.

Watchman Gets Renamed

The Night WatchmanAfter months and months of people not in the know asking me “Is Keanu Reeves in Watchmen?”, Fox Searchlight Pictures has finally realized their upcoming film The Night Watchman posed a marketing challenge which was sure to create confusion in consumers, especially with buzz growing for the Warner Bros/Zack Snyder adaptation of Alan Moore’s epic superhero tale Watchmen. So Searchlight have decided to do the right thing and rename the film “Street Kings”. Besides, I’m pretty sure that the script for The Night Watchman was penned way after the Moore graphic novel was available in book stores. Although it should be noted that the film is based on a story by  James Ellroy. I do remember this film floating around the development ponds for a few years now, once attached to Spike Lee, than Oliver Stone in 2005.

New Trailers For The Forbidden Kingdom And Street Kings

The Forbidden Kingdom sees Jet Li and Jackie Chan team up on screen. The other trailers have been so-so but this one really gets me excited.

Street Kings (formally The Night Watchman) sees Keanue Reeve as a cop who gets all confused after his wife dies. The film also stars Chris Evans, Hugh Laurie, Forest Whitaker and Naomie Harris.
