Jennifer Aniston’s Future In Film

Jennifer Aniston’s Future In Film

And they thought she’d be done after Friends was over!  Jennifer Aniston (fresh from a Mexican getaway with the Cox-Arquettes) has been keeping busy with her movie career, and she doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.

The “Office Space” actress was spotted in Vancouver, Canada yesterday (Sunday) afternoon filming her latest project “Traveling” with “Thank You For Smoking” actor Aaron Eckhart.

Aniston plays a florist who meets Eckhart’s character at a self-help seminar he’s leading.  They fall in love, then there’s a twist, yadda, yadda, yadda.  It looks like “Traveling” will be a great date movie in 2008.

Also on the docket for 2008, Jen will be starring in “Management,” “He’s Just Not That Into You,” and “Marley and Me.” Not to mention “Gambit,” and “The Senator’s Wife,” both projects that have been announced.  Sounds like this “Break Up” actress has her hands full!

Bateman’s Big-Screen Flower Power

Jason Bateman

Jason Bateman's career is about to experience the greenhouse effect.

The erstwhile Bluth boy has joined forces with Office Space mastermind Mike Judge for a new big-screen workplace comedy, this time trading TPS reports for watering cans with Extract.

According to Variety and the Hollywood Reporter, Bateman stars as the owner of a flower extract factory whose world goes wonky when he suddenly learns his wife has had an affair with a gigolo.

Judge will write and direct the comedy, the first feature to be produced through his Ternion Productions.

My Dwight Schrute bobblehead arrives… in two pieces

dwight schrute bobblehead dollMy Dwight Schrute bobblehead doll arrived in the mail today with a severed head. It was a clean cut: right at the shoulders. I called NBC’s customer service department about a replacement and it turns out they’re on back order until mid-August. Rats! I just got a new office space that has room on the desk for Dwight, the one and only bobblehead doll I ever plan on buying.

On a side note, besides the severed head, the bobblehead doll actually seems to be pretty high quality. It looks ceramic, but it’s plastic. Dwight’s neck must be too thin for travel because his head is pretty heavy. Anybody else have this problem?

ABC obtains rights to new Mike Judge animated series

Beavis and Butthead, created by Mike JudgeMike Judge has not created a new animated series since 1997. I guess 10-plus years is long enough because he’s entered a deal with ABC to create a new series called The Goode Family.

The series has a 13 episode order and is being produced by indie studio Media Rights Capital. It is the result of an independent deal between the studio and the writers so it’s not affected by the WGA Strike.

Judge is best known for MTV’s Beavis and Butthead cartoons. He also created King of the Hill for Fox. According to the article, The Goode Family “centers around a do-gooder family that tries to do the right thing in all facets of life”.

While I’m not a die-hard Judge fan, I have enjoyed his previous works as well as his movie Office Space (and I even got a chuckle or two out of Idiocracy). I hope ABC treats this show better than Clerks, its last attempt at an adult animated series.
