Nicky Hilton and Julia Stiles Visit Alice Olivia

Nicky Hilton and Julia Stiles spent their Thursday afternoon taking in the styles and sights of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

The two lovely young ladies paid a visit to the Alice & Oliva show held at Bryant Park, dropping by the backstage area to pose for pictures and chat amongst one another.

Meanwhile, the big talk around the show focuses on the low-cost sneakers that hit the runway - shown by Abaete by Laura Poretzky, Lela Rose and Stacey Bendet for Alice Olivia.

“Can you believe—Payless? They look like Louboutins,” Rose said, referring to French designer Christian Louboutin, whose shoes fetch $600 a pair or more in luxury department stores.

George Harrison’s Flower Power

Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison

All you need may be love. But a green thumb wouldn't hurt, either.

George Harrison's widow, Olivia, with a little help from his old friend Ringo Starr, opened a special memorial garden in honor of the late Beatle in London Monday, during the city's world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

"I really cannot think of a more joyful thing to do for George, and I know he would approve," she said of the "Life to Life" garden, which is divided into three parts, each signifying a portion of the quiet Beatle's life.

Harrison was an avid gardener who even dedicated his autobiography, I Me Mine, "to all gardeners everywhere, " and the space is his widow's way of honoring the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who died of cancer in 2001.

Per Olivia, all her late husband's favorite bits of greenery were accounted for, interwoven with his song lyrics, a photo of the artist and a giant "Here Comes the Sun" emblem.

Here comes the tourist hot spot, more like.

Diane Neal gives her notice to Law & Order: SVU

Diane NealThis is a bummer. (By the way, isn’t there a better expression than that to describe disappointment? “What a shame” is just too British to me.) Anyway, TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports that Law & Order: SVU has lost Diane Neal. The actress, who’s played assistant district attorney Casey Novak on the Dick Wolf show for five years has turned in her resignation. This season will be her last. “Diane spent five years on SVU and was a tremendous addition to the SVU team. She is looking forward to new opportunities and she will be missed,” says the NBC source about her departure.

Like I said, I’m not happy about this one. Unlike so many of the faces and forms that come in and out of the L&O universe, Diane Neal stuck out. And I mean that in a good way. She had a presence and a passion, which was not only recognizable amid the many others who seem interchangeable, it was crucial to match fire with Christopher Meloni, Mariska Hargitay and the other SVU cast.

SVU remains the strongest and most involving L&O entry — and I still watch all three of them. Just look at last night’s dynamite episode in which Olivia goes undercover into a women’s prison and is forcibly — sexually — attacked by a deviant correctional officer. You can bet that’s on Mariska Emmy-reel submission this year.

Back to Diane Neal, I’m hoping that she moves on to a show where she can get more time to shine. She had a good back story on SVU, but rarely got more than an episode or two thrown her way to explore the character. It’s just the way it is on procedurals, even the best of them. Why do you think Gary Dourdan just left CSI? I think he’s looking for a role with more juice.

Ausiello mentions the idea of Stephanie March returning as ADA Alex Cabot, but claims that Wolf wants a new up-and-comer instead. Yeah, that would be more cost-effective, Dick. Stephanie might not be interested anyway. She’s been doing an occasional TV episode here and there, but more often is out and about with Food Network super chef/hubby Bobby Flay.

50 Cent’s Gravy Train Is Over

50 Cent’s Gravy Train Is Over

Life is hard when you’re a multi-platinum, multi-millionaire, record label-owning, clothing line-designing enterpreneur.  Just ask 50 Cent.  He’s had to lay down the law when it comes to throwing money at the artists on his label.

It has been reported that 50 has ended the gravy train over at G-Unit Records.  While in years past, he’s bailed his rappers out of poor financial decisions, and paid the way for the artists and their huge entourages to ride comfortably on the road, that season has come to an end.

50 told press, “Whether I got to give them $500,000 or $300,000 … Just ‘cause they want $300,000 more to make what they [are] doing at the time comfortable. Like, ‘yo, I want to get this new place over here.’ ”

“Laze was there as representation of M.O.P., Havoc and Prodigy.  Banks, Buck. Spider was on the phone. Olivia was there. Sha Money was there. I broke it down. I told them I wouldn’t be assisting them financially anymore. Pretty much I was telling them I wouldn’t be there. [In the past] they’d make a lot of money and spend a lot of money and have me there to fix it.”

And 50 explains that his roster wasn’t earning their keep on the promotional side of his clothing line.  “I looked around the room, and I was the only person with G-Unit sneakers on. But they were being paid.  It had become the norm for the check to come, but they were no longer wearing the clothes.”

It’s not like 50 Cent has to worry about money.  He has two movies coming out later this year (The Dance with Nicolas Cage, and Righteous Kill with Robert DeNiro).  It’s just time to do a little housecleaning, and 50 isn’t afraid to break out the broom.
