Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi: Roman Romance

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi: Roman Romance

Everybody knows that nothing beats a trip to Italy for a romantic getaway.  And Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were spotted enjoying each other’s company in Rome last night (June 30).

The newly engaged ladies eagerly displayed their affection for one another, holding hands and smiling at each other as they strolled around the romantic city.

And when it came time for dinner, they stopped into local favorite Sabatini where they ate and canoodled one another.  Ellen sported a short sleeved black button-up shirt with grey tweed trousers and a pair of canvas slip-ons, while Portia opted for a sexy sleeveless black top with white trousers.

As for their upcoming wedding, sources say they’ll be holding the ceremony at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, California.

An insider revealed, “They didn’t sign the contract yet, but they’re working out the final details and security. The hotel is doing $70 million in renovations that will be done in October. They said they wanted to have the ceremony in the tropical gardens, by the pool and the reception in the grand ballroom. They will also close a significant portion of the hotel.”

CSI’s Gary Dourdan avoids jail time

Gary DourdanOn Monday, April 28, CSI star Gary Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs, California. He was asleep in his car and when a police officer approached, he found Dourdan disoriented. The actor was arrested after the cop found cocaine, heroin, Ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia in the car. Despite pleading guilty to drug possession today, Dourdan will not have to do any jail time. In fact, in the deal his lawyer struck with prosecutors, Gary will get treatment for his drug problems. Basically, he lucked out.

“Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed,” said his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, in a statement to The Associated Press. Dourdan won’t have to do any time in a drug rehab facility or behind bars, so all things considered, he’s very, very fortunate. He could have faced up to three years or more in jail .

Gary has already departed CSI, and in the season finale, his character was seemingly killed in a point blank shooting. However, when Jorja Fox returns for the fall premiere, Dourdan is reportedly in the show. And not as a ghost. So, now that he won’t be doing time, he’ll have time to film scenes for CSI and, presumably, wrap up the unfinished business of the CSI crew exposing the corrupt under sheriff.

Date of Birth: September 18, 1979

A native of Palm Springs, California, Alison Lohman always wanted to perform, despite her lack of family showbiz connections. She took acting and dance lessons, and by the age of nine, landed her first professional role playing the youngest daughter Gretl onstage in The Sound of Music at Palm Desert’s McCallum Theater. Two years later, she won the title role in the musical Annie and was awarded with the Desert Theater League’s award for Most Outstanding Actress in a Musical.

Presented with an award from the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts upon graduation from high school, Lohman was given a scholarship to the New York University School of the Arts, but decided instead to move to Los Angeles and begin her career. Her first jobs were guest appearances on the television series Pacific Blue and 7th Heaven.

Her feature film debut came in the forgettable alien flick Kraa! The Sea Monster (1998), and the following year, she appeared in no less than three features — The Thirteenth Floor, The Auteur Theory and The Million Dollar Kid — as well as a guest appearance on the television series Crusade, and a continuing role in four episodes of the show Safe Harbor.

In 2000 Lohman landed a regular role on the new television series Tucker, as well as the lead role in a TV movie called Sharing the Secret, in which she played a teenager suffering from anorexia. Later that year she landed a sizeable role in the feature Delivering Milo, alongside Albert Finney and Bridget Fonda.

The following year she appeared in Alex in Wonder (2001) as well as landing a recurring role as the teenage daughter on the TV series Pasadena. In 2002, she appeared in the forgettable White Boy, but also landed the plum role as Michelle Pfeiffer’s teenage daughter in White Oleander (2002). Lohman delivered a heart-wrenching performance as the young girl who sees her mother arrested for murder, then goes through a variety of foster homes while still being manipulated by her imprisoned mother. The movie was her break into the big leagues, and she moved on to her next role in Ridley Scott’s Matchstick Men (2003), starring opposite Nicolas Cage as a con artist’s teenage daughter.

Lohman lives in Los Angeles, but travels home often to visit her family in Palm Springs. Her hobbies include horseback riding, ballet and playing guitar.
