Accompanied by good pal Stella McCartney, Gwyneth Paltrow made a grand arrival at The Hoping Foundation Benefit Evening held at Ronnie Scott’s jazz bar in Soho, London.
The Thursday night affair hoped to reach in excess of $1,000,000 for the charity through an auction in which the guests bid for the chance to be serenaded by the celebrity of their choice from the stage.
And although she’s ruled out a music career, Paltrow ended up hitting the mic - singing a karaoke version of “Killing Me Softly With His Song” to a standing ovation at the charity event in aid of Palestinian children.
According to insider reports, the 35-year-old Oscar-winning actress began the song shyly, “but soon got into the swing of it”.

It’s been four years since Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin got married. And two kids later, we rarely see the pair out together.
Earlier this week, Paltrow was spotted in Barcelona, Spain. She was hamming it up at El Corte Ingles department store on behalf of Estee Lauder’s Pleasures Fragrance. And Chris was nowhere to be found.
There have been increasing rumors that the couple are having serious marital problems. One source talked about Gwyn’s reluctance to speak of her hubby.
“It was like Gwyneth didn’t want to talk about him. It was very strange. They haven’t been out together for months.”
An insider speculated to press that the “Sliding Doors” actress and the “Yellow” singer are disagreeing on where they want to live. “Gwyneth has wanted to return to the States permanently for a long time but Chris has said no.”
But Paltrow’s publicist has slammed the assertions that her client is having marital problems. “Gwyneth and Chris as a policy do not talk about each other in the media, nor do they attend public functions together. They have not been apart all summer as you suggest and she does not want to move to America.”
Whether or not those are famous last words, only time will tell.

She’s married to Chris Martin from Coldplay, and has two amazingly cute kids, but Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t satisfied to rest on her laurels. She recently began filming a new movie, and it sounds like a good one.
The “Shallow Hal” actress began working on “Two Lovers” two weeks ago in New York City, despite the fact that she’s become really picky regarding which projects she’ll agree to.
Director James Gray, revealed, “I said to her, ‘Will you come do this with me and Joaquin?’ And she said for me to send her the script: ‘I don’t know, Apple has school in the fall.’ I sent her the script, and she liked it.”
Speaking of Joaquin Phoenix, reportedly he and Gray are buddies after having worked on “We Own The Night” together. But “Two Lovers” isn’t in the same violent vein as “Night.”
Gray, who also co-wrote the film, told press, “It’s a small and rather beautiful romance between Joaquin Phoenix and Gwyneth Paltrow. It has nothing to do with this — no shootouts.”

With cup of coffee in hand to help warm her up on another chilly day, Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted out in New York City yesterday morning.
The “Sliding Doors” actress was sporting a navy pea coat, jeans, and two of the cutest braided pigtails we’ve ever seen. Her oversized black sunglasses didn’t do much to deter the shutterbugs from noticing her.
As previously reported by , Paltrow spent a bit of time in the hospital earlier this week. A friend of hers, chef Mario Batali told press that she had to be admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital this past Monday for “a little gastrointestinal situation.”
He explained, “It’s now been straightened out. She’s [doing] great.” Whatever it was, let’s just hope it wasn’t caused by Chef Batali’s food!
