Stars Nearly Outshine the Lakers
Despite winning game three of the NBA Finals over the Boston Celtics, the Los Angeles Lakers seemed to take a backseat to the slew of celebrities in attendance.
Fergie, in a Lakers jersey jacket that read “Thank God 4 Kobe” on the back, took time out to sign team paraphernalia; while Angelina Jolie’s father, Jon Voight, politely fielded questions about his pregnant daughter.
“I think she’s OK,” he told the crowd. “Just make sure that we all say a little prayer that everybody’s good, that the babies are good.”
New Kid on the Block Joey McIntyre managed to crack a smile while posing for pictures, even though his home team had come up short; but David Arquette was having none of it and quickly jumped over a barricadeand almost took a digger!
Perhaps he was rushing back home to console his wife. No, she’s not a Celtics fan. Her FX series, Dirt, was just canned.
Johnny Depp’s Christmas Shopping with Tim Burton
Johnny Depp’s Christmas Shopping with Tim Burton
With his longtime partner Vanessa Paradis being spotted at a Holiday tree lighting ceremony in Paris yesterday, it’s only appropriate of Johnny Depp to take the free time to get in a little Christmas shopping. And that’s exactly what the Pirates of the Caribbean actor decided to do.
Johnny and longtime director pal Tim Burton were spotted out on Monday shopping at London’s Forbidden Planet, which “houses the finest in movie and gaming memorabilia / paraphernalia you’re likely to find anywhere in the world.”
According to reports from CVG, “The doors had to be closed to the public while Depp and Burton went Christmas shopping and all this happened yesterday towards the end of the day.”
Other sources on the scene tell, “The two were picking up bags of Dr. Who and Star Wars toys.”
As far as their theatrical relationship goes, Johnny and Tim have their sixth film together, “Sweeney Todd,” hitting theaters on December 21, 2007.
CSI’s Gary Dourdan avoids jail time
On Monday, April 28, CSI star Gary Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs, California. He was asleep in his car and when a police officer approached, he found Dourdan disoriented. The actor was arrested after the cop found cocaine, heroin, Ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia in the car. Despite pleading guilty to drug possession today, Dourdan will not have to do any jail time. In fact, in the deal his lawyer struck with prosecutors, Gary will get treatment for his drug problems. Basically, he lucked out.
“Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed,” said his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, in a statement to The Associated Press. Dourdan won’t have to do any time in a drug rehab facility or behind bars, so all things considered, he’s very, very fortunate. He could have faced up to three years or more in jail .
Gary has already departed CSI, and in the season finale, his character was seemingly killed in a point blank shooting. However, when Jorja Fox returns for the fall premiere, Dourdan is reportedly in the show. And not as a ghost. So, now that he won’t be doing time, he’ll have time to film scenes for CSI and, presumably, wrap up the unfinished business of the CSI crew exposing the corrupt under sheriff.
Michael Jackson: Memorabilia’s On The Block
Michael Jackson: Memorabilia’s On The Block
If you’re a huge Michael Jackson fan, hopefully you’re reading this story from Las Vegas. The reason I say that, is that starting tomorrow (May 30th) Vegas will host the largest Jacko collection auction in history.
The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will be the setting for the landmark event. There was some legal red tape leading up to the sale, but the auction can now proceed after Jackson’s lawyers settled the case with the chief executive of Universal Express and proprietor of the objects, Richard Altomare. The involved parties came to the realization that Jackson had no claim to the items.
Along with the usual Jacko paraphernalia, there are reportedly some more personal things that the King of Pop may not want to see the light. There is speculation that the “personal things” include sex toys and photos of naked children. According to Altomare, “This is stuff we have kept from the auction out of respect to Mr. Jackson. The guy has troubles. We all have skeletons in the closet and, if Michael hadn’t put up a fuss, I might have quietly, discretely, just given it to him. I’m a Brooklyn kid and a gentleman . . . But if he p*sses me off, I may end up auctioning them.”
Some of the items up for auction include a Bill Whitten-designed militaristic red coat, a contract detailing Jackson’s $30 million purchase of a Californian ranch in 1987, now commonly known as “Neverland” and a telegram from Marlon Brando in 1984 giving Jackson a few encouraging words before a show.
To see the action and bid on your favorite piece of Jackson memoribilia, get on over to the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.
