Vern Yip comes back for round three of Deserving Design

Designer and architect Vern Yip is back for a third season of HGTV’s Deserving Design. The series will continue to focus on people with touching stories who are in need of some renovation assistance. Stories of this season include a couple who has taken in over sixty foster children (they get a much-needed new family room), a young woman diagnose with advanced breast cancer who needs some design assistance with her condo, and an eco-conscious couple who are in need of Vern’s expertise.

I’m excited this show is back for a third season. I loved Vern Yip’s designs when he was on Trading Spaces. He always did affordable, modern, and clean-looking updates to the participants’ homes. Plus this show isn’t as flashy as Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. And there’s no Ty Pennington screaming at you.

The new season starts tonight at 9 p.m. ET on HGTV. Will you be tuning in?

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong: Metal Heads

Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong: Metal Heads

There’s nothing like a loud heavy metal concert to really set the mood for a night of romance.  And last night Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong were spotted rocking out together, following their return from Canada.

The “Fool’s Gold” babe and her cycling beau were seen heading over to Madison Square Garden in New York City to see Iron Maiden live in concert.  And they didn’t look too happy to see the paparazzi waiting for them.

Kate sported a casual ensemble, including a lacy top underneath a long blue v-neck t-shirt dress with a pair of jeans and a cardigan sweater, while Lance opted for a white button-up shirt and a pair of jeans.

As for their Canadian adventure, the duo were in Waterloo, Ontario over the weekend for a cycling fundraiser to benefit two local hospitals.  The “Ride With Lance” event drew 40 participants for the 117-kilometer course.  The event raised over $1 million for cancer research.

Ashley Dupré to get some class?

Ashley Dupré The Donald is producing a new “My Fair Lady” style reality show involving party girls attending a private boarding school, and he wants Dupré to be one of the participants. Her history must make her an ideal candidate for this show.

The show is based on a British show called Ladette to Lady, which sounds a lot like Charm School from VH1. I guess Donald wants his hard-partying girls to have class.

The show has not heard back from Dupré. Perhaps she’s holding off for more cash. Maybe she’s putting this in the same category as her offers from Larry Flynt and Joe Francis.I was secretly hoping he was courting her for Celebrity Apprentice. Except when she was turning tricks with Eliot Spitzer she wasn’t even self-employed. If nothing else eliminates her from a possible candidacy on that show, that should.

While I’m no fan of reality television, Donald Trump or Ashley Dupré, I actually hope this happens. If ever two people deserved each other, it’s those two.

More The Moment of Truth

The Moment of TruthEven if the premiere of FOX’s The Moment of Truth was not as bad as I expected it to be, I didn’t watch the following episodes. However, it seemed that enough of you did to warrant the order of more episodes of the intrusive game show.

Friday, the network announced that it had ordered an additional 13 episodes of the “No. 1 new show of the season” (that’s how FOX describes the show); thus bringing the complete season 1 order to 25 episodes.

The lie-detector show, hosted by Mark L. Walberg, is reported by the network to be the third-highest rated program of the season (see the press release for details). Then again, this could be because the show airs after American Idol and airs at a time where most of the other networks are airing reruns.

The game show puts participants in the hot chair when they are asked revealing questions in front of the audience, including family members and friends. The Moment of Truth airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will move to 8 p.m. ET/PT on March 5.
