Reality TV producer wants to find World’s Strongest Celebrity

Reality TelevisionAccording to Variety, Michael Davies wants to create a new reality show. It is similar to IMG’s The World’s Strongest Man competition, but instead involves celebrities.

Obviously, the writer’s strike is an excellent opportunity for reality show producers to pitch all kinds of new ideas. This one is kind of funny but has potential. I can see several professional wrestlers participating in this one, each trying to see how far they can carry the refrigerator.
And why stop at men? I’m sure they’ll let buff women (such as Joanie Laurer) participate to see how high she can lift the log (no double-entendre intended).

There can even be crossover with shows like American Gladiator (whose participants look pretty buff themselves). And I can see spin-offs like “The World’s Weakest Celebrity”, starring such has-beens as Gary Coleman and Dustin Diamond. I can see this show having “lowest common denominator” written all over it, which would make it perfect for network T.V. Maybe even cable.

Larry’s Happy, Virgie’s Sad

Larry’s Happy, Virgie’s Sad

Since Larry Birkhead was revealed as the father of Anna Nicole Simth’s daughter by DNA tests earlier this month, he’s now seeking to change his 7-month-old daughter’s birth certificate to list him as the father.

CBS is reporting that “Birkhead and other participants in a private custody hearing Wednesday said they could not discuss the proceedings, but Birkhead said he was pleased.”

“I guess all I can say really is that it was a good day for me in court,” he said.

Virgie Arthur, meanwhile, didn’t have the best of days.

The estranged mother of Anna Nicole and grandmother of Dannielynn has been trying to reach a visitation agreement that would end her legal challenge for custody of the baby.

“After the Supreme Court hearing, Arthur was served with a lawsuit,” Entertainment Tonight reports. Sources told ET that Virgie’s being sued by her former Bahamian lawyer for non-payment of fees… probably putting a scare into her current legal eagle, as well.

Arthur left in a taxi without speaking to reporters after the judge scheduled another hearing for June 8th.

Mandy Moore Goes Back to School

Mandy Moore Goes Back to School

How cool would it be to have your favorite singer come to your school to hang out and do a concert?  Ask Nikelle Riggs.  She won a video competition and the grand prize was to have Mandy Moore come to her school.

The contest, titled “The Extraordinary High School Competition,” was put on by Photobucket. Participants were required to submit a “video remix” to one of Moore’s new songs. The video had to capture why the participant’s high school was so “extraordinary.”

“I’ve watched all her movies and have her CDs,” Riggs said excitedly. “This makes me love her even more.” Riggs’ video was picked from hundreds of entries.  They were narrowed down to five finalists, and Moore chose the final winner.

“I thought it was just so sweet and I could tell she did it with the help of other friends in school,” Moore said. “It was the one that made me feel nostalgic … and seemed the most representative of what I imagined high school to be like.”

During the 20 minute, seniors-only concert, Moore sang acoustic versions of songs from her new album, “Wild Hope,” out in June. “You’re one amazing school and that’s why I’m here,” she yelled to Vintage High’s Class of 2007.

At the end of the day, the class of 2007 had quite a memory.  “This is the last big thing (before we graduate), and it’s a big thing,” Riggs said with a smile.

More recently, Mandy was spotted showing every emotion in the book during a back and forth with her companion at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
