As a follow-up to the story earlier today, Mischa Barton was released from police custody this morning at approximately 10am to her parents. As she exited the police station, the OC actress didn’t acknowledge the paparazzi. Mommy and Daddy Barton drove her home in their Mercedes-Benz.
And this story is already blowing up, with speculation about whether or not Mischa is falling into the party-girl-jello-mold set forth by young Hollywood celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.
However, with all of the mistakes of her Tinseltown peers, you gotta wonder why Barton didn’t simply hire a driver to cart her around. It’s not like she doesn’t have the money!
The answer to that question, according to Dr. Harris Stratyner (an addition specialist) is simple. “People with active addiction don’t think logically. There’s always a certain element of self-sabotage. Why would somebody risk their career? It’s a form of self sabotage.”
Stratyner also says that Barton’s career field could possibly heighten the severity of her genetically-predisposed tendency toward addiction. “We see a higher incidence of abuse among people who are in the limelight because they’re under tremendous pressure. There’s a tendency to self medicate.”
His recommendation for treatment? “She needs a loved one to take control and get some help. We can’t allow people to hit rock bottom. We used to think people hit bottom … but sometimes you have to raise a person’s bottom. Their bottom could be death.”

Always the party girl, Paris Hilton was spotted out at Villa Lounge in Hollywood last night looking like she was ready to have a good time.
The “Stars are Blind” singer wore a black sequined party dress with some killer red heels and a gold shimmery scarf in her hair.
In addition to Miss Hilton, Justin Timberlake was also in the house, doing a little Friday night dancing at Villa. Unlike Paris, however, JT wasn’t all about getting snapped by the paps.
Perhaps the “Simple Life” hottie was celebrating the news that the folks at Harvard University’s Harvard Lampoon magazine has chosen her to be honored as their Woman of the Year.
Reportedly, she’ll be accepting the award, as well as giving a speech, at a ceremony in Harvard Square on February 6th. And two days later, her new film “The Hottie and the Nottie” will hit theaters. Sounds like a big week!

London’s North End is about to get a taste of notorious party girl Kate Moss. The supermodel recently purchased a home in the usually-quiet suburb of St. John’s Wood.
The English fashion icon was spotted leaving her new property yesterday, just as a moving company arrived with a truckload of her belongings. She’s recently been staying with her pal Davinia Taylor, whose home is less than 100 yards away from Moss’ new digs.
Unfortunately for Kate, her neighbors already have it out for her. Apparently, she’s been raising quite a ruckus with her late-night tendencies; so much so, that some neighbors are publicly declaring their distaste for their new resident.
Diane Mackintosh told press, “I don’t want anything to do with them. Since they’ve come it’s been impossible to live here. Everybody’s been complaining, especially those with children. I can assure you everyone on this street is angry. I’ve written to the MP and the police, everyone I can think of. It’s been absolute hell since they came over. They sleep all day and go out all night.”
However, with the tumultuous 2007 behind her, perhaps Kate is prepared to turn over a new leaf.

Looking a bit worse for wear, Tara Reid was spotted out last night leaving Mahiki nightclub via the back door to avoid photographers waiting at the front.
Wearing a faux-fur coat and carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag, the young “American Pie” actress stumbled into her waiting minicab after yet another boozy night out.
In stark contrast, Tara recently told press that she doesn’t see herself as a big partier. She said, “If I have a drink in my hand, it doesn’t make me an alcoholic. If I want a glass of wine, I want a glass of wine. I shouldn’t be afraid of it because of what the media might say. Anything you do, you’re screwed. That’s the lesson I’ve learned.”
Instead, she says she prefers to keep it low-key. “I don’t like going out every single night. I like to hang with friends and eat and sit next to a fire - that to me is the best night.”
Speaking of eating, Reid also recently took issue with the public’s perception of her perceived weight. “I’m not too thin. I go up 10 pounds, I go down 10 pounds. I was thin for a movie that I just finished [’Vipers’]. Now they’re going to see me and say I’m too fat because I’ve gained 10 pounds…I can’t win!”
