No Jury Duty For Madonna
No Jury Duty For Madonna
It’s something we all hate with a passion: getting summoned for jury duty. And it looks like not even the Material Girl was above being recruited to serve her civil duty.
Madonna was spotted reporting for jury duty Monday at the Beverly Hills Court House, sipping a Starbucks beverage and text messaging on her mobile phone.
The “Like a Virgin” singer sported a dark brown velour Juicy Couture warm-up suit, along with her celebrity sunglasses, running shoes and, of course, a Juror badge.
After some time at the courthouse, “Madonna was denied the chance to mete out justice when the day’s only panel was chosen and she wasn’t on it,” reports the Chicago Sun Times.
Jury duty aside, Madonna has been keeping herself busy working on her 11th studio album, which is due to drop April 29th. According to her producer Nate “Danja” Hills it’s gonna be a good one.
Hills told press, “She wanted up-tempo, dance, club music, and for everything to have a hip-hop underlining. She would just come in, sit in her chair in the corner and just vibe with us. She was very down-to-earth, very cool person, very easy.”
Shania Hurting, but Grateful for "Beautiful Blessings"
Now that she’s trying to make it on her own, Shania Twain wants her fans to know she’ll be back in business soon, “hopefully stronger than ever.”
“As I am sure you have seen or heard; I am going through a rough time personally in my life,” the recently separated country star wrote in a message on her website dedicated to her “beloved fans.”
“I wanted you all to know that I could not be getting through this without you. Your letters, emails and words of encouragement give me strength. Your overwhelming support reminds me to smile, no matter how deep the pain and to always be grateful for all the beautiful blessings in my life…
“I have so much to say but I know the best way for me to speak is through my music. This is my therapy, my passion, and my love. I look forward to sharing it with all of you as I begin this new journey.
“I need some time to heal this broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever.
“Thank you my friends, from the bottom of my heart.”
Twain and her producer hubby of 14 years, Robert “Mutt” Lange, announced their separation May 15. They have one son, 6-year-old Eja D’Angelo.
Brad Pitt: More Architectural Digesting
Brad Pitt not only stays in luxury resorts. Now, he’s helping to create them.
Zabeel Properties, a Dubai-based developer, has announced the appointment of L.A.-based architecture firm Graft to lead in the designing of an 800-room, five-star hotel and resort.
Pitt is among the design consultants for the project, which promises to reflect environmental sustainability.
“Whilst acting is my career, architecture is my passion,” says Pitt. “Selecting this development as my first major construction project has been a simple decision. It will underpin not only my values for environmentally-friendly architecture, but also embrace my career in entertainment.”
The actor, meanwhile, is continuing his involvement with the building of 150 new affordable and sustainable homes in New Orleans for those left devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
Green, gorgeous and generous. Can you stand it?
Rosie Gabs About Babs
Barbara Walters lacks passion? A certain former senator from Massachusetts may respectfully disagree, but Rosie O'Donnell has wasted no time in calling out her former coworkers' lack of heat as one of the causes of tension on The View.
"Passion on that show was not number one," O'Donnell said on the Today show. "Some people confuse passion for rage. I have a lot of passion about things I believe in."
The oversize personality also said that, despite appearances, she never stirred the pot for controversy's sake, simply for honesty's.
"When somebody would say something that I found insane, I would say, 'That's insane.' "
But O'Donnell was also quick to note that whileduring her infamous feud with the Comb-Over'd Oneshe forced Walters "to be sort of more emotional than she's comfortable with," they still maintain a relationship, with the duo trading emails and attending plays together.
She's less friendly with Elisabeth Hasselbeck, but did admit she and her polar opposite "touch base."
Still, while O'Donnell may harbor no resentment toward her onscreen pals, her offscreen ones are another story.
"It was not the people on the stage," she said of her decision to leave without finishing out her contract. "It was the director and the executive producer. You have a choice, do you want to choose to fight for a living…they made it into Hardball."
In retrospect, it was more like swing and a miss.
