Sean Avery Comes Out of the Vogue Closet

Sean Avery, Men’s Vogue

Professional hockey player Sean Avery has no problem being in the closeta fashion closet, that is.

And just because the hunky New York Rangers left wing may be able to tell the difference between a Jimmy Choo and a Manolo Blahnik, it doesn’t mean he’s gay. In fact, you best not even think of poking fun at him for his obession with fashion.

Avery explains it all in a piece he just posted on MensVogue.com about his recent internship at Vogue.

What?

Yes, Avery interned at Vogue!

So why on earth did a professional hockey player write a letter to Vogue editrix Anna Wintour asking for an internship?

“I like clothes,” Avery writes. “Always have. What started innocently enough with my first tie-dyed Chip & Pepper shirt at age 12 has evolved over a decade and a half into a closet full of Dries Van Noten, YSL, Dior, and Costume National, to name just a few.”

Avery, 28, goes on to say he prefers the Style section of the New York Times over the sports pages and that he thinks “women’s clothes are especially interestingthere are so many options, and they can tell more of a story.”

He waxes on about picking clothes for photo shoots. Of one he writes, “Try to spot the leopard-print Alexander McQueen vest that pulled the outfit together.”

Avery admits some question whether he’s straight, so he makes a pointwell, a few pointsto show how he’s so not gay. He recalls being distracted by “some of the best-looking and best-dressed women in New York” when he had his first lunch in the company cafeteria.

The best, however, has to be his parting words. He dares anyone to tease him about his obsession with fashion.

“Go right ahead,” he writes. “Just know that you may get your ass kicked by a very expensive pair of shoesand that they’ll probably match both my belt and my shirt.”

In other words: Sean’s here, he’s not queer, so ya better get used to it.

Jessica Simpson Plans Romantic Vacation

Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo

The couple that travels together, stays togetheror, at least, so says rocky-relationship queen Jessica Simpson.

Pals close to the music scene’s newest country crooner say Jessica is planning a quick summer get away for herself and beau Tony Romo.

“She thinks they need some quality alone time,” says friend of Jess, who is still reeling after her relationship reached the breakup brink.

“She believes a vacation will really do a lot to reconnect them. Tony agreed to go, but it was all Jessica’s idea.”

Timing, however, is a problem. Jessica’s crazy busy with photo shoots and interviews to promote her soon-to-be-released country album. And Tony starts football training camp July 24.

“But she’s determined to squeak out a week together before then,” says her pal. “So if she has to clear the decks on her own schedule to make it happen, she so will.”

New Supermodel Is No Naomi Campbell

Holly, Make Me A Supermodel

Holly Kiser may have just won Bravo’s Make Me a Supermodel, but don’t worryshe’s not about to turn into one of the reality show’s surprise guests, Naomi Campbell.

“I promise I won’t be a diva,” Kiser says. “I promise not to throw any phones at you.”

All kidding aside, the 21-year-old native of the Appalachian Mountains beat out 14 other supermodel wannabes last night during the finale of the series’ first season, hosted by Tyson Beckford and Niki Taylor.

Kiser takes home $100,000, a modeling contract and a fashion spread in GQ. Even so, she’s hoping to remain a simple country girl. “I’m not gonna go out and a buy a Louis Vuitton purse or anything,” she said. “I’ll maybe go to the flea market and go to some yard sales. I just wanna be myself and buy some cool vintage things.”

The best part of the competition may have come at the end, and I’m not talking about the win, but Kiser’s reunion with her fiancé, Ray (his last name hasn’t been released). The contestants were sequestered, so Kiser and her man hadn’t seen each other in three months!

“Thankfully, he’s not a jealous fiancée,” Kiser said. “He had to watch me on TV every week making out with different people [during photo shoots] and getting nude. But we have a lot of trust, and that’s the only thing that matters anyway.”

This is when American Idol gets boring

american idolLast night, we saw the Top 10 perform on American Idol and I realized something: I’m bored. A lot of reality shows get this way during March and April. There are still a bunch of contestants left, but it’s pretty obvious who is not going to be crowned the champion. Let’s face it, these people aren’t going to win:

I’m also feeling this way about America’s Next Top Model — only, it is still a “must watch” for me because of the photo shoots. Idol, on the other hand, needs to start throwing some curve balls at the remaining contestants. The songs they’re choosing are too safe. Even Brooke was boring last night with her piano and The Police. It’s time for Disco Week! Nobody does well during disco week. Wouldn’t you like to see David Archuleta attempt an ABBA song? Or Jason Castro sing The Bee Gees?
