Video: Writers Strike Explained

I have gotten a bunch of e-mails asking me to explain the current writers strike. Why are the writers picketing in front of the movie studios? Aren’t they paid enough? What is this whole thing all about. The good folks at UnitedHollywood have put together a video which explains the major points of debate between the WGA and the movie/television studios. I think you will quickly understand why this is happening.
Wikipedia also has a great round-up of what’s going on including a list of the teleivison shows which will be impacted (and how many episodes they have left in the pipeline).
Office showrunner Greg Daniels and actor/writer Paul Lieberstein talk about what happened when Steve Carell walked off The Office, and the show is forced to shut down production.
Damon Lindelof and Marc Cherry on the picket lines in a video clip titled “Lost & Desperate”, how clever. Lindelof makes a great point at the end of the clip about how the future of television is an on demand internet box.

Frank Miller Updates: The Spirit, Richard Donner, Holy Terror and Sin City 2 & 3
A new LA Times article on Frank Miller has revealed a few interesting news tidbits:
- Miller has already interviewed actors for his big screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit. One of the actors is a “notable Sin City star.” Any guesses on which star this could be? Filming will start this year.
- Miller had a meeting with Superman director Richard Donner. I wonder if this was just a meet and greet or a meeting over a possible future Miller adaptation? Or may-be even a new project based on an original Miller screenplay?
- Miller has finished 120 pages of the eventual 170 page Holy Terror, Batman! graphic novel: “Our hero’s key quote is, ‘Those clowns don’t know what terror is,’ ” Miller said. “Then he sets out to get the guys.”
- And we finally get confirmation that there are two sequels to Sin City in the pipeline. No word on if they will be shot back-to-back.

Jessica Biel’s Puppy Love
Jessica Biel’s Puppy Love
We haven’t seen much of Jessica Biel on the silver screen since her “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” gig. But the 7th Heaven hottie is fixing to change that.
Jessica was spotted taking a break from filming “Nailed” yesterday, running to greet her dog Tina who was being walked by her assistant.
And Miss Biel was quite the cutie in a blue cardigan sweater overtop a blue t-shirt, paired with jeans, Warmbat boots, and a fun fedora atop her noggin.
Besides “Nailed,” Jessica has a few more movies in the pipeline including “Powder Blue,” “Planet 51,” and “Easy Virtue.” Looks like she’s keeping as busy as her boy Justin!
Jessica Alba Fits Cash Into Her Schedule
Jessica Alba Fits Cash Into Her Schedule
While she was busy yesterday with co-hosting duties at the El Sueño De Esperanza Gala, Jessica Alba found time in her schedule to fit in a lunch date.
Looking quite chic in a white sun dress and black leather cowgirl boots, the Sin City starlet met up with her producer boyfriend Cash Warren for a little couple’s time.
Not to be outdone by his lady love, Cash kicked up his appearance, wearing a shirt and tie, topped off with a navy button-down sweater.
We just hope that Mr Warren doesn’t get to used to all of the attention he’s been paid recently, as Jessica has five movies in the pipeline and will be one busy young lady.
