REO Speedwagon Revs Up for Flood Victims

REO Speedwagon

REO Speedwagon has hitched itself to a cause.

The “Can’t Fight This Feeling” rockers have signed on to headline the Ridin’ the Storm OutFloods of 2008 Relief Concert to benefit Iowa flood victims.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the July 16 concert, which will also feature Little River Band, will go toward relief efforts.

The jamfest will go down at the Prairie Meadows racetrack in Polk County, which is underwriting the entire event and will deliver all funds raised from ticket sales and a silent auction to the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation.

Floods across the Midwest have forced thousands from their homes in the last month, and most of Iowa’s counties were deemed disaster areas.

Commanding the stage in a colorful floral patterned ensemble, Leona Lewis helped Nelson Mandela celebrate his 90th birthday during a big concert in London on Friday (June 27).

Offering up a solid performance at the Hyde Park venue, Lewis was there to lend her support for Mandela and his global AIDS campaign, 46664.

Proceeds from the event were funneled directly towards the 46664 charity, which is currently campaigning to raise awareness of the severity of the disease.

Also on hand for the festivities were musical acts including Amy Winehouse, Annie Lennox, Josh Groban, Joan Baez and actor Will Smith.

Kim Kardashian Preps For Celebrity Family Feud

Kim Kardashian Preps For Celebrity Family Feud

Getting herself ready for a day behind the cameras, Kim Kardashian treated herself to a manicure and pedicure at a Beverly Hills spa on Saturday (June 7).

The reality starlet and her family are lined up to make an appearance on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud, being filmed today (Kim’s broadcasting video from the set live to her blog today).

Meanwhile, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashian’s” hottie and her sisters Khloe and Kourtney are auctioning a lunch date and shopping on eBay for charity, with a portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Dream Foundation, an organization that grants wishes to terminally-ill adults.

Of the auction, Kim says on her eBay page:

“My sisters Khloe and Kourtney and I want to have lunch with you! We can talk about what it is like being in the public eye, having your own reality show, girl talk, and of course our favorite topic - fashion!”

“Not sure where we will meet for lunch, but it will be somewhere nice not too far from our store DASH, about 45 minutes away from Beverly Hills and Hollywood. After lunch, let’s all go back to DASH and do some shopping! We want to help you look your best and will give you a $500 gift certificate to start out with. We all have different styles and tastes so you can be sure to get some helpful advice.”

The auction ends at 7:00 PM Sunday (June 8) - with the current bid listed at $8,700.

Seventh On Sale Brings Out the Stars

Seventh On Sale Gala

What a crazy/cool idea!  The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards dinner was paired up with the massive Seventh On Sale event, and Hollywood’s A-list got to go shopping while helping a good cause.

Billed as the world’s biggest sample sale, the Seventh On Sale Gala took place at the 69th Regiment Armory courtyard, with proceeds going to benefit HIV and AIDS research.

And stars like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kate Moss, Jennifer Connelly, and Dita Von Teese showed up to grab some discounted designer duds.

The always-elegant Vera Wang revealed that she would be combing the racks for a hot buy, in addition to working the sales floor this weekend.  “They know I’m a shopper, and there’s nothing like a seller who’s a shopper.  I think that’s why they asked me.”

And Mary-Louise Parker told press her plan for being responsible with her money during the sale.  “Budget? I don’t want to cry when I get in the car, that’s my budget.” Must be nice.
