I bought the Mad Men lighters, now I have to start smoking
I mentioned in my review of the first Mad Men episode that the show makes me want to start smoking and drinking a lot. Now I have another reason to take up smoking (or should I say return as I did smoke for one summer as a teen): I got the two new collectible lighters yesterday.
They’re both pretty damn cool and look a lot like the limited edition, lighter-shaped DVD set for the first season of the show. The limited edition lighter features the full Mad Men logo (the title and the back of the man’s head and arm) and is numbered (only 1000 were made). It comes in a nice black case. The regular lighter is metal and features the Mad Men title (without the pic of the man) on the bottom of the front.
AMC is spending $25 million to promote the second season of the show (commercials, print ads, promotional products, tie-ins, etc), which premieres on July 27, and I’m all for spending that kind of money if it gets me cool collectibles like this. Now I have to go get a few cartons of Lucky Strikes and a couple of really nice suits. (Check back on July 21 as we’ll be giving away some Mad Men goodies like the DVDs and one of these lighters, so you can start smoking too.)

If you pushed the snooze button instead of listening to Ryan Seacrest’s morning show on KIIS-FM, then you probably don’t know that marriage engagements are like stripper poles and that Carmen Electra doesn’t much care for paperwork. (Like they say, the early bird catches the, um, writhing, squirmy bit of information.)
While we had already told you that Carmen is in no rush to marry fiancé Rob Patterson, we didn’t know that her hesitation was due not to the fact that she’d been married twice before but to an aversion to filing.
Confused? Here’s how Carm tells it…
“I feel like being engaged feels nice, because it’s a commitment but there’s no paperwork. And, um, I dunno. I feel like we’re happy, so whyI dunno, there’s no reason to push it to the next level when we’re content and we’re happy the way we are.”
Ryan says he understands, kinda.
Ryan: It’s a portable stripper pole. You could really take it down from the ceiling if you had to, but you’re still committed enough so you don’t fall down.
Carmen: Exactly, exactly.
Ryan: And that’s what it’s all about.
Carmen: And that’s what it’s all about.
It is? Maybe we did hit “snooze” after all and just dreamt this whole, surreal thing.

Finding herself surrounded in controversy as of late, Michelle Williams attempted to clear her head with a family walk in New York City with half-brother, Jason, and daughter, Matilda, on Thursday (June 26).
The “Deception” actress recently denied rumors that a bust-up with Heath Ledger’s family is the reason she will not be present for the premiere of Heath’s last completed movie, “The Dark Knight.”
“The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend ‘The Dark Knight’ premiere is unfounded, but to say she is ‘boycotting’ due to a rift with Heath’s family is absurd,” a rep for Williams told press.
The spokesperson continued on to say, “It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation.”
