Madonna Holds Last-Minute Pre-Oscar Party
Madonna Holds Last-Minute Pre-Oscar Party
Prior to the end of the writers’ strike, most of the regular pre-Oscar parties were cancelled. But never fear! Madonna, her manager Guy Oseary, and Demi Moore came up with a last-minute solution, and stars like Owen Wilson, Eva Mendes, and Christian Slater showed up in droves.
Fresh out of the Cirque Lodge Rehab Center in Orem, Utah, Eva Mendes showed her face at the CAA shindig, wearing a black and white belted dress complete with black knee-high leather boots and a black jacket.
A recently reclusive Owen Wilson also made an appearance at Madonna’s party. The “Wedding Crashers” stud wasn’t too keen on having his picture taken, though. He covered his face to avoid the paparazzi getting a clear shot of him.
And Christian Slater had his party gear on, sporting a slick dark suit overtop a brilliant blue collared shirt. He brought his Sharpie along for any autograph seekers.
Also making appearances were Casey Affleck, John Mayer, Jared Leto, Sean Penn, Rebecca Gayheart and Eric Dane, among others.

Stars Turn Out for 7th Annual Butterfly Ball
Stars Turn Out for 7th Annual Butterfly Ball
Held at a private residence in Los Angeles, the celebs were out in full force on Saturday night at the exclusive 7th annual Butterfly Ball fundraiser benefiting Chrysalis, a Los Angeles-based organization that helps homeless men and women find jobs and homes.
Those in attendance included hot couples such as Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley, and newlyweds Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller.
“We love it, and we really believe in it,” Demi, who looked striking in a navy gown, told press at the event.
Other famous faces in attendance at the ball included “emcee Chris Kattan, co-chair Rebecca Gayheart, Topher Grace, Mila Kunis, Eric Dane, Kate Walsh, Eva Mendes, Jason Lewis, Seth MacFarlane, Brett Ratner, Keyshia Cole, Patrick Muldoon, Amaury Nolasco, Eliza Dushku and Jason Segel, who honored Universal Pictures production president Donna Langley. The event was said to have raised over $1 million for Chrysalis.”
Charlie’s Got That Newlywed Sheen
Perhaps the third time will be the charm for Charlie Sheen.
E! News confirms that the Two and a Half Men star swapped vows with live-in love Brooke Mueller Friday in front of about 60 people at a private estate in the gated Los Angeles community of Beverly Park.
All dolled up for the occasion were Sheen’s two daughters with ex-wife Denise Richards, Sam, 4, and Lola, who will be 3 next month.
The actor’s ever-supportive dad, Martin Sheen, and mom Janet were also in attendance, along with pals Eric Dane and Rebecca Gayheart.
Mueller, 30, donned a simple ivory gown for the occasiona nod to what a source tells us was Sheen’s wish for a low-key affair, which also included instructions to the gents to leave their ties at home.
However, providing plenty of glam all by itself was the custom-made $500,000, 11-carat ring that the real-estate investor has been sporting since Sheen popped the question during a trip to Costa Rica last July.
“It is a canary-yellow, flawless diamond,” the man responsible for the finger candy, jeweler Lord Alon Barak, told “Charlie really went above and beyond.”
This was the third trip down the aisle for Sheen, 42, and the first for Mueller.
But just because the nuptials were on the casual side didn’t mean the bride wasn’t primed to look her best, making a last-minute stop Thursday at dermatologist-to-the-stars Dr. Harold Lancer, presumably to make sure her complexion would be picture-perfect for the big day.
“She was so excited. She told everyone in the waiting room that she was getting married,” an eyewitness told News. “She said, ‘I’m so excited, I’m getting married tomorrow!’
“She looked beautiful and was glowing; she was so happy.”
Mueller met Sheen about two years ago at a Victoria’s Secret party hosted by Gayheart, who in turn was spotted Sunday at her gal-pal’s bridal shower at the Warehouse Restaurant in Marina del Rey.
While Mueller’s friends plied her with goodies, wedding guests were asked to give donations to Chrysalis, a charity that aids victims of domestic abuse, in lieu of presents.
The newlyweds are expected to attend the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball tomorrow night in Beverly Hills, meaning a good cause is trumping the honeymoon, at least for this weekend.
Is Miley Cyrus Good for Sex and the City?
Not everyone has a problem with Miley Cyrus naming Sex and the City as her favorite show.
“It’s awesome,” hunky Sex star Jason Lewis said last night at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills during a kickoff cocktail soiree for the upcoming Chrysalis Butterfly Ball. “A Miley Cyrus endorsement means everything…She seems like a pretty mature 15-year-old.”
And how.
But Cyrus wasn’t the only headline maker on people’s minds during the fete…
Grey’s Anatomy star Justin Chambers talked politics. “I’m pro-Obama,” Chambers said. “I’m a big fan of his…I think there’s something very sincere, intelligent and authentic about him.”
Meanwhile, former Beverly Hills, 90210 star Rebecca Gayheart said she’s looking forward to the new 90210: “I think it will be a big hit like it was the last time.”
