When you’re as rich and famous as Shakira, you get to pick and choose which projects you want to work on.  And thanks to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, she was convinced to sing on the soundtrack of “Love in the Time of Cholera.”

The film had its premiere in Las Vegas, and there was no shortage of celebrity sightings.  But more than that, the even benefitted Shakira’s Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) Foundation.

The Latina singer told press, “Bare Feet supports children and families who have been disenfranchised and displaced by the ongoing conflict in my native Colombia, the beautiful land which Garcia Marquez describes with such lushness in ‘Love in the Time of Cholera.’”

The “Underneath My Clothes” singer contributed three amazing songs to the new soundtrack, which also features instrumental pieces by Antonio Pinto, a Brazilian composer known for his work on “City of God” and “Central Station.”

Shakira’s songs, “Hay Amores,” “Despedida,” and “Pienso en Ti” all showcase her amazing trademark voice, and give the album depth as well as a little sex appeal.

Colombian beauty Shakira was in attendance for the “Love in the Time of Cholera” premiere last night in Hollywood.  And while she’s been engaged for over six years now, she doesn’t sound like she’s in any hurry down the aisle.

The “Hips Don’t Lie” songstress told press, “We’ll get married eventually, or we won’t, but we’re together and that’s what matters. We love each other and we want to stay like that. Why fix something that’s not broken?”

And with Shakira, it’s all about love.  “Love is my primary nourishment. I think that nothing else in life, not even your career or music — well, what I’m saying is a bold statement — I think that nothing can substitute love as the propelling force of everyone’s lives.”

She added, “It’s number one on my list of priorities, of course.” You can bet that her fiancée, Argentine lawyer Antonio de la Rua reaping the benefits of having such a loving (and loaded) lady in his life.

Well known for her generosity, Shakira continued on with her charitable ways by attending last night’s “A Heart For Children” telethon gala in Berlin.

Dressed in a gorgeous red dress, the Colombian sensation not only showed up for the festivities, but she even took to the stage for the worthy cause.

And even though she spends so much of her time with philanthropic endeavors, the 30-year-old Barranquilla native continues to produce award worthy music.

This was made evident by the recent Golden Globe nomination received by Shakira. She’s up for Best Original Song for “Despedia” which was featured in the movie “Love In The Time Of Cholera”.

Shakira co-wrote the track with Antonio Pinto - with the two hoping for a big win when the winners are announced on January 13th.
