Eva Mendes Plays Coy on Rehab Details

Eva Mendes, Interview Magazine

Don’t look for Eva Mendes to be spillin’ all about her visit to rehab.

“There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge,” the starlet says in the new Interview magazine, out July 15. “But I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care. So I will neither confirm or deny.”

Mendes actually feels better when stories are wrong rather right…

“But for all the stuff that came out a few months ago about substance abuse, there were so many wrong stories,” she says. “I was so happy about that, because it’s when they get the real scoop that would make me really nervous…You want it to be a lie, because when it’s true, that’s when I’d be like, ’Oh, my God!’ It’s time to rethink who’s in your circle, because stuff got out.”

Mendes also sounds off on the obstacles she faces as a Latina in Hollywood, including not being considered for the same parts as her pal Drew Barrymore. “But it’s like, ’No we want more of an American type of girl,’” she explains. “And it’s like, American has opened up. I’m an American girl, born and raised. I mean, I was into New Kids on the Block, just like Drew! Actually, I shouldn’t say that. I don’t know if she was. I’m going to text her on that one.”

(For the record, Barrymore is shooting right now and couldn’t be reached to ask if she is, in fact, a New Kids fan, but her rep did respond, “We do love Eva, though!”)

Hilary Duff: So Happy with Mike Comrie

Hilary Duff: So Happy with Mike Comrie

They’ve been successful at keeping their relationship out of the tabloids so far.  And it looks like Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie’s strategy of keeping personal things personal has panned out well for them.

The “Foodfight!” cutie and her hockey player stud were spotted, still going strong, out and about in Los Angeles yesterday (joined by one of Duff’s pooches) for a little bit of shopping and hand-holding.

And it sounds like Miss Duff has been seriously pondering the prospect of becoming Mrs. Comrie, with the people around her giving her a resounding “go for it!”

A source told press, “She’s really into Mike and would like to get married and start a family, so she’s looking for a second opinion about whether he’d be a good fit for her in the long run.” And “Hilary is so happy!” because she’s been getting nothing but a thumbs up response.

Huey Lewis’ Pineapple Express Theme Song

Huey Lewis and Seth Rogen

The rumors are true. Seth Rogen was able to convince Huey Lewis to record a title theme song for the upcoming Judd Apatow stoner comedy Pineapple Express.

“It is called Pineapple Express, cleverly,” director David Gordon Green told movieweb. “Our only input was, we told him we wanted it to sound like his 80s work that we loved so much. And we wanted to have the plot in it. And we wanted to have him say the title as many times as he could. There is a lot of alto sax. It is kind of like that ‘other’ Back to the Future Huey Lewis song. Not ‘Power of Love’ but ‘Back in Time’. Yeah.”

Here are the lyrics from the song’s chorus:

We got trouble,
we got to get out of here.
I’ve got you,
you’ve got me.
We are as high as we can be.
That’s all right.
How did we get into this mess?
Pineapple Express!

Sounds like an instant classic to me! Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until August 8th 2008 to hear it. But for now, enjoy this vintage music video for Huey Lewis & the News’ Power of Love which features a cameo of Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown with his time traveling Delorean.

Discuss: How cool is Huey Lewis?

Executive producer Allison Grodner spills some Big Brother 10 news - VIDEO

BB10 premieres July 13As Big Brother fans patiently await the press conferences and cast announcements for the new season, executive producer Allison Grodner has already been talking to the internet.

Now, what she has been saying interests me. As a long time fan of both the feeds and the show as well as being privy to the internet fan reaction, I’ve seen folks almost demanding a return of actual strangers in the house and more diversity in casting. Will this be our year? Read on past the jump for the video.

This sounds almost too good to be true. It sounds like we’ll see more than a token older person in the cast. Yikes! Perhaps last year’s sex strategy flopping made them realize that a good portion of the fan base doesn’t tune in just to see if 20-something sleazes have a showmance. Will we truly be back to the roots of the show? Strangers in the house? If so, I think we may have one of the best seasons ever!
