WALL-E: The Look and Sound of Space; Brazilian Vignettes and UK Posters
I can’t yet begin to tell you what II thought of Pixar’s WALL-E. Unfortunately I am embargoed against telling you exactly how much I loved the film. Disney is ramping up their marketing, and has released a bunch of videos that are worth checking out. First up is a featurette called “Pixar Goes Space Age” which takes a look at the design, tone and cinematography of space in the film. One thing revealed is that Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins actually worked on the film as a visual consultant. Deakins was responsible for the great cinematography in Assassination of Jesse James, No Country for Old Men, and In the Valley of Elah last year, for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards.
IGN has a featurette called “A Space Journey In Sound” which focuses on the incredible sound design of Academy Award winner Ben Burtt, best known for as the father of R2-D2 (as he did the sound design for the Star Wars films).
Three new WALL-E vinettes are being aired in Brazil: one focusing on baseball, another on dancing, and a third where WALL-E gets to close to the video camera. Check them out below (via: Pixar Blog).

Meanwhile, Empire recently premiered four new British movie posters. I never thought I’d see an animated character playing with a Bra on a poster for a Disney animated release:
Trivia: George Lucas’s Daughter is an MMA Fighter
Amanda Lucas, the 27-year-old daughter of George Lucas, made her mixed martial arts debut in Auckland New Zealand on Saturday night under the stage name Amanda “Powerhouse” Lucas. The billionaire filmmaker’s daughter took on Australian kickboxer Nicole Kavanagh in a 73kg MMA contest at the Auckland Boxing Association Stadium. Apparently Amanda, who appeared in minor cameo roles in the three Star Wars prequels, was a hip-hop teacher in San Francisco but had years of martial arts training including kickboxing, Muay Thai and Brazilian ju-jitsu. In the Star Wars films, Amanda appeared as a dancer in The Phantom Menace, an Outlander Club patron in Attack of the Clones, and Senator Terr Taneel in Revenge of the Sith. The fight will be part of a new reality television series planned around the formation of this new all-woman MMA league.

Back to the Future Sequel Rumors Squashed
Not that anyone was expecting the answer to change, but Back to the Future co-writer and producer Bob Gale has again put sequel/remake rumors to rest.
“Let me answer one question before anyone asks it, which is, ‘Is there ever be a Back To The Future Part IV…No,” Gale told the crowd of the 5th Annual Celebration Exotic Car Festival. “We’ve all seen sometimes where they make one too many sequels and you say, ‘Maybe they shouldn’t have done that.’ I’m not going to name any names of movies, but you know what they are!”
As a huge fan of the Back to the Future franchise, I respect the stance everyone involved with the films are taking in terms of sequels. The series works remarkably well as a trilogy, and having a fourth film could only feel like a tacked on post it note. That said, I’m eager for a new generation to discover the Back to the Future films. I’ve noticed that less and less of the new generation has even heard of Back to the future, never-mind watched the trilogy. And with the closure of Back to the Future - The Ride at Universal Studios, I don’t expect that to change anytime soon.
It would be great if they could find a way to remake the movies for a new generation without it feeling like a sub par copy of the originals. But that’s probably not possible. Maybe a theatrical re-release might be another option. With digital cinema expanding in the numbers that it has been (primarily due to the popularity of 3D), I’m surprised that studios aren’t doing more big screen re-releases, as the costs would be minimal. Or perhaps they could give Back to the Future the post production 3D treatment that has been discussed for the Star Wars films. That might be the best way to reach the new generation.

George Lucas Announces Two More Star Wars Movies

We absolutely knew that George Lucas was not done with the Star Wars universe. The Star Wars creator revealed to Fox News that he will make two more live-action Star Wars films.
“But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”
The two “extra” movies will probably be one hour in length and made for television.
At the one hour length, what will differentiate the upcoming hour-long live-action Star Wars television series from the films? Wouldn’t it be a good idea to make them a bit longer?
