Hilary Duff Role Based On Britney Spears?

Hilary Duff Role Based On Britney Spears?

While she’s quietly been building a relationship with hockey star Mike Comrie over the past few months, Hilary Duff spent Saturday night on an evening out with the girls.

The Lizzie Maguire actress appeared in high spirits as she left Central nightclub in Hollywood, where she enjoyed time with her older sister Haylie and a few friends.

As far as her professional life is concerned, Duff stars alongside John Cusack in War, Inc., which is scheduled to premiere at Sundance this month.

Speaking to press about Hilary’s character in the film, Cusack recently told the Sun Times: “She plays a very slutty pop star, which is the real joke. The idea of Hilary, who is so classy and wholesome, playing a slut is funny.”

Interestingly enough, it looks as if the role is actually modeled on troubled pop tart Britney Spears, as Cusack teased: “In our movie, she’s a slutty singer who wants to be like one the girls in the headlines now, although we don’t need to name names.”

Jessica Alba Gets Allure-ing

Jessica Alba, Allure Magazine

For someone not always (OK, never) seen as a serious thespian, Jessica Alba certainly has the "lady doth protest too much" routine down pat.

The 27-year-old mama-to-be attempts to set the record straight on her career priorities in the new issue of Allure: Commerce over art every time, unless there's a bikini involved.

When asked why she hasn't appeared in more independent, art-house fare, the expectant star gives a refreshingly candid answer, if not one that'll likely keep Sundance at bay for quite some time.

"To me, box office is the most important thing," she says. "If the movie makes money, then I'm fine."

You gotta give the girl some credit for honesty.

"I grew up not having a lot. I'm really happy to be making money, not depending on a man, and not having to suffer to survive in this business. Struggling is not fun. Been there, done that."

Despite her share of skimpily clad roles, Alba grouses about being objectified.

"They always play up your sexuality, because that's what gets men into the theaters," she says. "And I never really gave a s–t about all that stuff!"

Though not, it should be said, due to any prudish reservations about the topic.

"I don't think sex is a big deal. I hated the hypocrisy of it. Men can do whatever, and it's acceptable."

There again Alba is putting her money where her mouth is, possibly winning over a more feminist base, but effectively writing herself out of any future safe-sex endorsement campaigns. Not that there's any money in PSAs, anyway.

"I can't say it was a total accident, because you're aware of when you're being careful and when you're not," the knocked-up star says of the bun in her ever-expanding oven. "It just happened so soon!"

"It," of course, being her gestating celebuspawn with fiancé Cash Warren, a pregnancy that Alba is the first to admit hasn't gone entirely smoothly.

"I kicked him out, but it wasn't like thattotally. When you're pregnant, your emotions are more tense. If the shoes are in the wrong place, you kind of lose your mind. Then he just laughs, gives me a hug and tells me it's okay."

And, we'll assume, hides the bikinis.

Beat Ben @ the Box Office: Surf Gangs vs. Slashers vs. Smart People

Bra Boys

Usually in Beat Ben, the game that's driving the Internet nuts, we break down the biggest movie of the weekend, which is more often than not, not the best movie. Well this week, I want to switch it up.Bra Boys is the biggest non-IMAX documentary in the history of Australia. Produced by Daily 10's own Sal Masekela and his partner in Berkela Films, Jason Bergh, it's the story of a surfing gang from Down Under. It's incredibly powerful and extremely well done. It opens here in the states this weekend and is narrated by Oscar winner Russell Crowe.

While it won't be No. 1slasher flick Prom Night unfortunately is on way more screensit will have the weekend's highest PTA (that's Per Theater Average, people). The film will be sold out everywhere it plays. It's that good.My call? Look for Bra Boys to have a PTA of $10,000, and when it expands to a city near you, please do check it out.

Elsewhere this weekend, the Sundance favorite Smart People features Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker and a post-Juno Ellen Page. But is it brainy or a bust? Check the clip below to see what I think.
