Kravitz Joins Madonna in Ramming A-Rod Rumors

What a tangled web we weave when first we talk about Madonna’s men.

While the Queen of Pop, fresh off a happy and photo op-ready reunion with hubby Guy Ritchie, already took pains to disavow anything more than a platonic relationship between herself and Yankee star Alex Rodriguez, a blast from Madge’s past is joining in the denial act, this time concerning a rumored relationship with Rodriguez’s suddenly estranged wife.

“There is absolutely no affair between Cynthia Rodriguez and myself,” Lenny Kravitz said in a statement today. “This is unequivocally 100 percent not true.”

The denial comes in the wake of a story in the New York Post claiming the fairer Rodriguez had no problem going Kravitz’s way and that the duo had spent the past four days getting cozy in Paris.

Cynthia is a friend and is here with Alex’s trainer [her baby’s godfather], his wife and their baby girl. She came here to escape from everything happening in New York City,” said Kravitz.

“I opened my home to her as a friend and I find it extrememly hurtful that I am now being referred to as an adulterer.”

It was reported by the New York Daily News this week that the Rodriguezes separated after five and a half years of marriage, and just three months after the birth of their second daughter.

As is the way with the pop-culture universe, all roads still manage to lead back to Madonna: She and Kravitz were rumored to be an item in the early ’90s, when the rocker wrote and produced her single, “Justify My Love.”

Salma Hayek’s Frazzled Afternoon

Salma Hayek’s Frazzled Afternoon

For most of us, a routine trip to the eye doctor is pretty mundane.  But for Salma Hayek, it can quickly become a paparazzi circus.

The “Desperado” hottie was spotted taking her baby daughter Valentina for a checkup at a Los Angeles medical building yesterday afternoon, looking frazzled and a bit paranoid.

Sporting some massively puffed-out hair, a summery top, and a pair of jeans, Miss Hayek looked desperate to shield her baby’s eyes with her own oversized sunglasses.

And this isn’t the first time Salma has had issues with prying photogs.  She recently told press, “I was hounded when I was pregnant. And even more since I’ve had the baby. They are parked outside of your house and they will not move for months. I didn’t leave my house for nearly three months… I’ve gotten hit with a camera before.”

Back in February, she explains, things went from bad to worse when Valentina was almost injured by eager shutterbugs.  “First I see them attacking me with the camera and the flashes. Now she starts screaming, the baby. Then they push the nanny, she was going to the floor.  It was so disturbing. I didn’t know if they wanted to get the picture or they wanted to push the baby and get me crazy. I’m not sure because it was almost - it was really deliberate. It’s a baby.”

Project Runway starts July 16

Project RunwayUnless that little ad I saw during Top Chef was a total lie, Project Runway’s fifth season will be starting Wednesday, July 16 at 9:00 (new time). I definitely was not expecting the new round to start this early. It feels like the painful fourth season ended only three months ago because, umm, it did. It worries me when competition shows seem a little too eager to pick the next hottest thing. Let the old hottest thing bask in the limelight for a little while! I really hope PR doesn’t turn into a non-stop barrage of half-talent the way that American Idol has, popping out new seasons like they’re Danielle Steel novels and not allowing the talent pool to grow.

Also, remember that this is the last season that PR will be on Bravo. All future seasons will be on Lifetime. Ironically enough, the fact that it’s on a women’s TV network makes me want to watch the show less.

I’ve already expressed my worry about the state of this show, so I’ll leave that be. My heart can handle only so much bitterness at a time. The show hasn’t inspired very much positive excitement in me since Season Two, and this upcoming season is going to be the deciding factor in whether or not I have the strength to follow the move to Lifetime. Here’s to hoping there’s something worth watching.

Patrick Swayze’s Beaut of a New Project: The Beast

Patrick Swayze

Cancer is not going to keep Patrick Swayze from his dream job.

The Dirty Dancing star announced Sunday he will continue on with his lead role in the upcoming A&E drama The Beast, playing an unconventional FBI agent whose failure to play by the books makes him a target of Internal Affairs.

“I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multilayered, unpredictable and downright entertaining as well as a project this current and cutting-edged,” Swayze said in a statement from A&E.

The 55-year-old actor announced in March that he was battling pancreatic cancer. The news came just three months after he shot the pilot for The Beast.

A&E has now picked up the series for 13 episodes and confirmed that Swayze has been cleared to work. Filming will begin this summer in Chicago, and the show will debut early next year.

“Chicago is an amazing, untapped city. I can’t wait to get to work on this,” said Swayze.

Despite some tabloid reports to the contrary, Swayze and his doctor have repeatedly said his situation is not dire and he has been “responding well to treatment” at Stanford University Medical Center.
