When there’s this much riding on one night, anyone would be stressed out. But Britney Spears knows how to blow off some steam before her huge MTV Video Music Awards comeback this Sunday.
The “Gimme More” singer was spotted tearing up the dance floor at LA club Opera last night. She danced to Rihanna’s “Umbrella” among other dance tracks while smoking cigarettes and having a few drinks.
According to a witness, “Britney was in a great mood all night, smiling, laughing, upbeat, she drank beer, vodka cranberry and vodka tonic.” Maybe the high spirits are because she’s confident that she’ll be back on top of the charts as of tomorrow night, when she performs “Gimme More” with the help of illusionist Criss Angel.
There’s no doubt she has a lot to prove, so a little stress relief via a night out isn’t that shocking… especially from Britney Spears.

The Rihanna / Jay-Z collaborative effort has conquered the U.S. pop charts after securing the top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 countdown for the seventh successive week.
And the popularity doesn’t end in the States. The hit single has claimed an impressive ninth week in the No. 1 spot on the UK charts. Doing so, it has now joined a short list of songs that have spent eight weeks on top - only Umbrella and Crazy by Gnarls Barkley have done so since 1994.

Ever since her surge to the top of the charts, Rihanna has had little time to sit down and take a break from it all.
But the Umbrella singer is doing just that, as she recently decided to spend a few days back home in Barbados for a friend’s wedding.
The 19-year-old beauty made the trip on Wednesday, the day after her House of Blues show in Los Angeles. On October 30th, Rihanna returns to the stage for a lone show in San Jose, followed by two weeks off to prepare for a lengthy European tour beginning on the 11th of November.
In news relating to Rihanna’s personal life, Josh Hartnett recently spoke to press about his lip-locking session with the Good Girl Gone Bad.
While on Fox’s Morning Show with Mike and Juliet, Josh was asked about all of the relationship talk surrounding himself and Rihanna.
“If I start responding to these things, then everyone would want a response about everything,” he said, adding, “But it’s ridiculous. And half - 95% - of what is written about me is not true.”

Free from ex Kevin Federline after yesterday’s divorce finalization, the trainwreck that’s Britney Spears is said to be focusing her attention solely on career related matters. Not only does she plan on getting back to the top of the charts, Ms Spears is also rumored to be in talks to host Saturday Night Live in the months to come.
This news comes despite the fact that other troubled stars have seen fallout due to their scandalous actions. Recent examples include Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie’s tv show, “The Simple Life,” getting canceled, along with Mike Vick’s endorsement fallout over his dog fighting charges. And while Britney may not be on that level, most would be uninterested in having their name tied to a lose cannon.
Nonetheless, according to X17 Online: “There’s word circulating that Britney’s in talks to host Saturday Night Live in the fall! But don’t go thinking that Britney’s got plans to ignore her musical career in favor of one in comedy - our source further confirms that Brit’s taking every step to make sure her new music comes out on schedule!”
