Yorkshire Ripper Trilogy On The Way
UK’s Channel 4 and Revolution Films are currently working on a trilogy revolving around the serial killer known as the ‘Yorkshire Ripper’ who terrorised the North East of England, according to Variety.
Peter Sutcliffe was convicted of murdering 13 victims between 1975 and 1980, and the case was one of the largest ever investigations by a UK police force. Unfortunately for the police, computers weren’t widely used in the 1970’s so they had to write everything down and ended up screwing things up a few times. Peter Sutcliffe is currently severing multiple life sentences and claimed God told him to carry out the murders.
The films will be based on three of the four books in David Peace’s ‘Red Riding Quartet’, and are being made as a TV series, with a U.K. cinema release and then possibily sold other countries after that.
The budget for the three films is $10 million, which is the equivalent to 10 minutes of Transformers.
Fans Will Have A Good Chance to Be In The Hobbit!?

Peter Jackson included the names of the members of the official Lord of the Rings fan club in the credits for the DVD releases of the LOTR trilogy. Guillermo del Toro might actually top him, promising that fans will actually have “a good chance” to appear on screen in The Hobbit and/or the announced sequel.
“In either of the two films, [fans] have a good chance of being there,” del Toro told MTV, later adding: “We will set some rules and some contests and some fans will definitely get the chance of being extras.”
But I’m sure that only a few extra roles will be made available to contest winners. And while the production might require a few thousand faces for a huge crowd shot, I’m sure computer generated people would be used in such an instance. But wouldn’t it be cool if Guillermo invited a couple thousand fans to be extras on the movie? But how many fans would fly to New Zealand on their own dime to be in the film?
Christian Bale Rules Out Robin For Batman 3 (and beyond)

Several weeks ago, rumors circled offline once again that Robin would appear in the sequel to The Dark Knight. It reminded me of the “rumor waves” last year when everyone in the industry suddenly discovered The Long Halloween storyline and held it up as the script to Christopher Nolan’s second Batman sequel. According to StarPulse, Christian Bale not only considers Robin lame, he has threatened to remake The Machinist as a documentary if the character crosses his path…
“If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I’ll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work.”
Some fans will be blinded by a premature warm happiness after reading, “one of the new Batman films,” but Nolan has insisted this a trilogy. No matter, we are of the agreement that not only should Robin be dismissed, the word “robin” in general should be banned from this franchise. It’s not dark enough, nor does it embolden comparisons to The Godfather 2, Heat, and an “extraordinary cinematic revolution” spelled out by 400,000 lit firecrackers. Actually, that last one is worthy of Robin. We josh.

Wanted To Become A Trilogy?

I saw Wanted the other day and I enjoyed it. Good action, nice twist towards the end and of course, Angelina Jolie. It seems a lot of people thought the same as me because it did rather well for an R-Rated movie. It is the second biggest opening that didn’t reach number #1 (damn you Wall-E!) and has already made back its budget with a total of $90 million as I type.
Universal are currently choking on money, and when they finally spit it out there is a good chance they will be wanting more. (See what I did there? The movie is called Wanted and I said ‘wanting’ and made it italic…I’m hilarious!)
Cinema Blend are saying that a source told them that Universal want to go international next time round. Spoilers below.
For the sequels their idea is to take Wanted international, and have James McAvoy’s Wesley character fighting Fraternity cells all over the world. It seems Sloane isn’t the only Fraternity leader who has been ignoring the instructions of fate, it’s something that’s been happening for centuries, and that means a lot of Sloane’s peers are now pretty pissed off at Wesley.
They also say:
It’s surprising, since by the end of the film both Jolie and Freeman’s characters are quite definitively dead. That’s no barrier for Hollywood though. The plan is to involve them in flashbacks which will explore the past of Angelina Jolie’s Fox, and allow us to meet the man who trained and recruited her. That person could become a major villain in the sequels, which would explain the flashback links to Jolie and Freeman.
Bring it on I say!
