LOL: Mexico’s Top Rambo Impersonator

Any would-be Sam Walton knows that Rambo remains America’s chief export. He is the vein-y cornerstone staying strong against today’s crashing waves of economic turmoil and disaster. VICE just released their Mexico Issue and contained therein are countless photos of Mexico City’s beloved Rambo impersonator, Diego Alione. So successful was this Argentine at posing with babies, women in hot denim (with a leg up) and stunned kids (see the face above) that he made the jump to Universal Studios. Fame! If Stallone ever hangs up the bazooka and the head band, let’s hope that Holly/Bollywood puts up the funds for a Rambo 5 starring Alione. For the sake of our grandchildren’s pain at the pump.

UPDATE: Slashfilm reader, dvq, points out that our grandchildren are already safe from uncertain doom. Grab some chips and salsa and enjoy the Rambo impersonator’s music video/tour of Hollywood.

One more photo with an evil-looking dog, another hottie, and a close-up of the firearm in all its glory.

First Look At ‘Fast And Furious’!

USA Today has the first three official images from the currently filming Fast and Furious movie!

The movie is a sign of the strength of “quiet giants,” franchises that “might not be James Bond or Indiana Jones but still have a rabid following, especially overseas or on DVD,” says Paul Dergarabedian of Media by Numbers.

Even Justin Lin, who directed 2006’s Tokyo Drift, has been surprised by the franchise’s reach.

“I was in Barcelona, and a kid from Spain comes up and just says ‘Fast and Furious,’ ” Lin says. “It’s amazing how many kids know it.”

Indeed, the series has made $600 million worldwide and is one of Universal Studios’ best-selling DVD titles.

“We were doing a movie about illegal racing before most people even knew how popular it was,” Diesel says. “How many franchises are that based on the real world?”

But it’s not all current events, Walker says. “Who doesn’t like fast cars and hot women?”

Erm… indeed?

F&F rolls its way into theaters June 9, 2009.

Jamie Foxx Groomed for Settlement

Jamie Foxx

Jamie Foxx ironed out the creases in his legal docket.

The actor has reached a settlement with the stylist who sued him last year for supposedly not paying her for the fashion-savvy services she provided on multiple occasions, according to documents filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Freelancer Stacy Young claimed in her suit, which she filed in February 2007, that Foxx and his label, Foxxhole Records, left her high and dry after she helped dress him for the 2006 BET Awards and for a series of press junkets while promoting Miami Vice.

Per the complaint, the plaintiff was seeking payment for services rendered, as well as unspecified damages for “thousands of dollars in costs” from employment she turned down to work with the Oscar winner.

Terms of the final deal were not disclosed. Young’s attorney told reporters they were “pleased” with the arrangement.

Foxx’s camp, which argued in response to the suit that it was Universal Studios and not Foxx that had hired Young for the Miami Vice gig, has not commented on the settlement.
