Natalie Portman Makes Time For Romance in Cannes
Natalie Portman Makes Time For Romance in Cannes
Sure, she’s the youngest member of the 61st Annual Cannes Film Festival jury, but that doesn’t mean Natalie Portman is all business all the time.
The “V for Vendetta” actress was spotted taking some time off of her judging duties to do a little canoodling with her boyfriend Devendra Banhart, as well as her pet pooch earlier today.
And last night was all about romance for the “Garden State” hottie. Portman was spotted having dinner with Devendra at Cannes hot spot La Mirabelle.
According to witnesses, the two lovebirds were very public with their displays of affection, reportedly holding hands and kissing throughout the meal.
Natalie Portman Gets Dance Lessons
Natalie Portman Gets Dance Lessons
You never know what to expect when a celebrity shows up at MTV studios for a taping of TRL. And for Natalie Portman, her appearance on the show garnered her a dance lesson.
On Monday for a show that aired yesterday, the “Garden State” actress showed up at the Times Square studios to promote her new film “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.” And she walked away a better dancer.
Hop-Hop star Soulja Boy was also in the house, and he seemed to take quite a liking to the “V for Vendetta” babe. He taught her how do to the latest dance craze the Soulja Boy Dance, and she picked it up immediately.
And speaking of “V for Vendetta”, Portman noted that shaving her head for the role was great, but she’s glad to have her hair back. “It took a long time to grow back and I’m glad it grew back. I’m a girl again!”
As for working with Dustin Hoffman on “Magorium,” she said, “All the time, he is super-spontaneous. To make a scene work better he’d ask what if this is our last chance to do something ever? It really changes the way you work.”
Ninja Assassin Details Revealed

Warner Bros has released new details on The Wachowski Brothers-produced Ninja Assassin. As you probably already know, Ninja Assassin is directed by James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) from a screenplay by Matthew Sand and J. Michael Straczynski. The film stars stars Korean pop star Rain (Speed Racer) as Raizo, one of the deadliest assassins in the world.
“Taken from the streets as a child, he was transformed into a trained killer by the Ozunu Clan, a secret society whose very existence is considered a myth. But haunted by the merciless execution of his friend by the Clan, Raizo breaks free from them… and vanishes. Now he waits, preparing to exact his revenge.
In Berlin, Europol agent Mika Coretti (Naomie Harris) has stumbled upon a money trail linking several political murders to an underground network of untraceable assassins from the Far East. Defying the orders of her superior, Ryan Maslow (Ben Miles), Mika digs into top secret agency files to learn the truth behind the murders. Her investigation makes her a target, and the Ozunu Clan sends a team of killers, led by the lethal Takeshi (Rick Yune), to silence her forever. Raizo saves Mika from her attackers, but he knows that the Clan will not rest until they are both eliminated. Now, entangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse through the streets of Europe, Raizo and Mika must trust one another if they hope to survive… and finally bring down the elusive Ozunu Clan.”
The film also stars legendary martial arts performer Sho Kosugi (Revenge of the Ninja) as the ruthless leader of the Ozunu Clan. Sounds like it could be a very cool Ninja action film. I was really impressed with McTeigue’s V for Vendetta, but The Invasion was a disaster, although I’m not sure McTeigue can really be blamed for not being able to fix the mess that was handed to him.
he behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Karl Walter Lindenlaub (Independence Day, Prince Caspian), production designer Graham “Grace” Walker (Pitch Black, Gothika), costume designer Carlo Poggioli (Cold Mountain) and editor Giancarlo Ganziano. The Wachowski brothers’ longtime stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are also on board as second unit co-directors. Joel Silver, Grant Hill, Larry Wachowski and Andy Wachowski are producing, with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and William Fay serving as executive producers.
Principal photography has started at Babelsberg Studios and on location in various parts of Berlin.
V For Vendetta’s James McTeigue to Direct Revelation
Director James McTeigue looks to follow-up his gig on the Wachowskis-produced Ninja Assassin, currently in production, with Revelation, a thriller with a sci-fi twist from Inferno Distribution. The pic will follow a female journalist following a string of “bizarre murders and discovers that the victims were all treated by the head of an org that researches alien abductions.” The brothers Wachowski are not listed as being involved this go around. John Salvati, who penned 2009’s Dali and I: The Surreal Story starring Al Pacino, wrote the screenplay. Nothing about this news makes me raise an eyebrow or a sparkler just yet, you?
