The Office games coming to Scranton
To some, the only games that matter this summer will be the Olympics in Beijing. To others, Scranton, Pennsylvania will be the place to be for the real games.
On Saturday, July 19, The Office’s number one on-screen enthusiast, spunky Kelly Kapoor — played by actress/writer/co-executive producer Mindy Kaling — will host a series of games to promote the release of two new The Office products. NBC and Pressman Toy have created The Office DVD Board Game and The Office Trivia Game.
In true The Office spirit, the Scranton games are likely going to be more interesting than the products. Remember when Jim and Pam organized a mini-Dunder Mifflin Olympics in the office, with yogurt cup lids for medals and origami doves for the presentation?
Anyway, I’m thinking that if Mindy Kaling is schlepping to The Mall at Steamtown in Scranton — site of the July 19 event — it’s going to be a hoot. She’s hilarious.
By the way, is that the mall where Michael and Pam and the ladies went shopping at Victoria’s Secret? They should tell us things like that! I never knew that Scranton had a Steamtown section.
Back to the games, there’ll be traditional contests like a 2K Fun Run (when is running fun?), an official The Office Trivia Challenge, and — my favorite — a Beet Eating Contest. That’s B-E-E-T, as in the red vegetable found on broscht.
On first reading, I thought it was beef and figured they’d been grilling steaks and hamburgers. No, it’s beets, like the kind Dwight Schrute grows on his family farm. He brought a lovely beet salad to Michael and Jan’s one night for a dinner party as I recall.
So Mindy K. will officiate The Office Games and in addition to promoting those new products, they’re going to raise funds for United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania (UNC), a Scranton-based charity that provides services and creates opportunities which empower individuals and builds strong interdependent communities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.

For their weekday outing, the New England football stud looked sharp in a white top, jeans and a newsboy cap while his Brazilian supermodel girlfriend kept it casual in a black tanktop with jean shorts.
Meanwhile, Gisele recently opened up to GQ magazine for their July 2008 issue, talking about what she likes about Tom and how the two came to be a couple.
“I think we have a lot of things in common, and I think he is a really great person,” Gisele tells. “He really genuinely doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. And he is a very positive person.”
Of getting to know her quarterback beau, the Victoria’s Secret Angel tells: “We met through a friend who knew us both for a long time. Our friend knew that we would like each other. And we did. So I guess he was right.”

Victoria’s Secret catwalker Adriana Lima has officially gotten engaged to NBA hoops man Marko Jaric, starting shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves, his rep confirms.
Jaric, 29, popped the question on the voluptuous brunette beauty’s 27th birthday Thursday and presented her with a ring. The couple have been dating for about nine months.
“He asked, and she said yes. They are both incredibly happy and couldn’t be more in love,” the Serbian-born basketball star’s publicist James Weir told People.
Lima, touted in the media as one of the sexiest women in the world, has previously stated her intention to wait until after marriage before having sex for the first time, despite having famously dated rocker Lenny Kravitz and Yankees MVP Derek Jeter.

With Reality TV’s surge in popularity here in the States, it’s no wonder other countries are also catching reality fever. And Heidi Klum is helping her motherland of Germany capitalize on the trend.
The Victoria’s Secret babe was spotted in Cologne earlier today for the Germany’s Next Top Model photocall, along with a few co-stars. She serves as the host, as well as the head judge and executive producer of the gig.
And she looked simply stunning in a black multi-textured belted minidress with a pair of shiny black gladiator sandals and a big smile.
Klum has been spending a lot of time in Germany as of late, working with a cosmetics for cancer charity earlier this week, as well as doing some promotional work for McDonald’s.
